Man, I saw that too.

 

I think he threw strikes in the same way that I played JV Football. I did kinda play once but it wasn't pretty and didn't last long.

I guess Veras didn't walk too many batters in spring but he gave up a ton of hits. He might have been throwing more strikes than he has been during the regular season, but he sure wasn't getting outs.

 

It's hard for me to cut Beinfest slack for having a low payroll when he makes boneheaded decisions like this not contingent upon salary. Veras should not have made the team and there were a couple of guys pitching in spring who were clearly better.
