November 16, 200322 yr Found this passed along on ESPN message board. Warning: maybe just rumor at this point, but we will see. Posted by: KoolHerc Sorry if this has been posted already... Too many threads, too little time... According to PG's meetings wrap-up: The Orioles have cash to burn, but the indications are that they do not like the value vs. cost of the prominent free agent pitchers -- especially after the Florida and San Francisco deals -- and were talking more about Jose Guillen, Javy Lopez, Derrek Lee, and the like, than about Guerrero and/or Sheffield. Either they feel they already have one of the big guns in the bag and want to focus on some of the smaller parts or they've lost their mind... Hell, even if they took the former tact, they'd be crazy... Why would I not be surprised???

November 16, 200322 yr Author whats the background check on this poster? these are just a bunch of dreamers that post that they ar insider. hes lying Lying, what proof do you have? I dont see this as such an unlikely possibility, although Lopez would not fit into that price range. The rest of that thread did not treat that post as a lie, but rather as definite possibility (go take a look). It seems to me to make sense, the O's are too many players away from being a good team (and why hire Mazz?). They would be better off spending money on two $8MM players than one $15MM player. And that analogy has been used elsewhere...
November 16, 200322 yr maybe it makes sense, but the only person who might want to provide "proof" is the guy making the claim.
