Full Question:

In cases where there has being a lawful stop, detention or arrest in the enforcement of a law or ordinance not related to immigration and there's a suspicion that the person is an illegal alien should the officer make an attempt to determine the immigration status of the person?

Can you tell me how one suspects someone is an illegal alien where there is a lawful stop? What is teh basis for that?

If you're hinting that the only way to tell is the color of one's skin, you're wrong.

Assuming this "stop" is a traffic stop, If the person in question is driving, then that is a problem in itself. Now one may respond, in Washington, New Mexico, and a few other states, illegals can get their driver's license. And again, I respond, that is a problem in itself.

If you come to this country illegally and break the law (outside of other laws that are already being broken from being illegal, that is) you do not deserve to be here. But the question is still relatively vague.

And dont for a second call the citizens and legals hypocritical in that situation... you should know what you're up against.
