I'm wondering if he's been injured the last several years? Had torn labrum surgery last year and now the numbers he's putting up are identical to 2006.

K/9

2006: 8.27

2010: 8.36

2007-2009: 5.88

K/BB

2006: 2.21

2010: 2.89!, 2.25 before today

2007-2009: 1.61

HR/9:

2006: 1.15

2010: 0.64, 0.87 before today

2007-2009: 1.43

He's striking out guys again, he's giving up less fly balls.

The thing is, his fast ball speed isn't really up. It's 89 MPH this year, has been 88 past two years, 90 in '07 and 91 in '06.

Well actually, I don't think it's that he was injured from 07-09. Considering the speed stuff.

Rather, the increase in results seems to be because he's barely using his fastball now. He's using it less than half the time this year. His usage is basically 45% fast ball, 30% slider, 25% change up. Previously it was basically 65%/20%/15%. This actually seems to be credit to whoever his pitching coach is, or whatever got him to make that change.

speaking of ex-Marlins pitchers, tonight was supposed to be Dontrelle Willis vs. Sergio Mitre in Detroit.

THE D-TRAIN AND THE MI-TRAIN! COLIDING!

Dontrelle got pulled because he has the flu, though. :thumbdown
