Mientkiewicz said he will only be with the Zephyrs until Friday as the Marlins have until then to decide whether or not to promote Mientkiewicz from New Orleans or he will be released.

An interesting note, Mientkiewicz started in LF today for the Zephyrs. He has played some OF in MLB before, but not much.

unless he goes 4/4 or something this next game (s), seeeeeeeeeee ya.

He may not have somewhere else to go if he wants to stay active in case some GM somewhere feels the need, or he could get picked up immediately but I'd guess if he leaves the team it will be for retirement. As for left field it conceivably could be an audition for another team. Just a thought.

I don't think the Marlins signed him not to give him a chance. I have a feeling he will be with the Marlins by the weekend.

According to a rotoworld report, Doug left New Orleans today (no callup). I hope he didn't let the door hit him on the way out- they'll need that in the HOF some day.
