Just got back from the Marlins/Giants game...

What an awesome game to go to. Unfortunately Ricky's pitch count got up in a hurry, but I thought he pitched tremendously. Maybe if Cantu didn't make 2 errors (that foul ball should have been caught), Nolasco could have completed 7.

The one thing I was pretty angry at was on that Rowand 2 run homer. Not that it was ruled a homer by the umps, but the fact that they didn't show one replay of it at the game. Not a single one. Even after it was reviewed, they didn't show one single replay. Meanwhile they were showing replays of every single Giants hit. I was around a couple of Marlin fans and we were all pretty ticked off. It's almost like they knew it was fan interference, so they refused to show it on the jumbo-tron. But tell me this. If the umps went under the tent and reversed the call and called it fan interference, do you think the Giants would have shown a replay then?? Well of course they would. That's like taking homerism to another level. Show the replay so that fans can see it and have an objective response on the call. I don't know why, but that really bothered me.

Other than that, great game, great experience. I've been to AT&T park about 10 times in my life and it truly is an amazing ball-park. I'm going tomorrow and Wed. Johnson vs Cain, I'm exciteddd. GO MARLINS!!!!

Ballparks aren't allowed to show replays of close plays due to an agreement with the Umpires' Union.

Oh really?? I had no clue. Thanks for that info.

Similar thing happened at a World Cup game, Argentina v Mexico I think, where Argentina scored despite being clearly offside. It was ruled a goal however the referee and linesman saw the replay on the big screen and looked like they would overturn it but they couldnt as they had already made the call of a goal. FIFA then blasted those who put the replay on the screen as there was a rule that any contentious/close plays should not be screened inside the stadium.

I read Ron Luciano's books and he was a former umpire and he told stories about umps getting mobbed after games, mainly in the Caribbean winter league. I wonder if that would be a reason for no replays. They don't want to jeopardize umps safety.

That's exactly what the argument is and why I think it's a good rule.
