  1. So that's an extra base hit!
  2. I really hope that Uggla can be a Marlin for life. I know he's in line for a big pay day but think the team can figure out a way to pay him more when the stadium opens. And to the person who said 144 is a low home run leader, it's true. Only the Rays have a lower leader. It just has to do with the age of the team. The D'backs and Rockies have guys like Luis Gonzalez and Todd Helton that top their leaderboards. If Uggla finishes his career with us I can see him around 250 or more and that would put us on par with a lot of the expansion era franchises.
  3. I think it's funny that at the end of July we were 37-41 and outscoring opponents by 22 runs I think. Now in July we're 15-10 but being outscored by 10 runs. But whatever, we're winning so it's cool.
  4. Very happy tonight. Let's get one tomorrow
  5. this needs to be a sweep. we have our 2 best pitchers going and they dont have either of their top 2. needs to be a sweep. Anibal already has pitched so we have just our best pitcher left in Johnson. Nolasco and Volstad ERA in the 4+ area. I was thinking that. People say Nolasco is better than Sanchez and I think when he is on, he is the better pitcher but Sanchez has been better this year. He's been very consistent.
  6. Yeah I forgot about his 2/5 against SF. No hits the rest of the series. Those were the games I was able to see.
  7. Stanton's last 8 hits are XBH's LOL. His last single came in the first game of the colorado series. :notworthy maybe he should loan some of those to Hanley, who has 0 in his last 30 ABs or something When was the last time Hanley had a hit? It seems like it's been awhile.
  8. When I was 6 years old in 1995 I remember watching sports with my dad (who was born in Cuba and raised in Miami) and older brothers. I specifically remember watching the Dolphins and Dan Marino. After that I remember the Heat with Alonzo Mourning. Sometime in there I started watching the Hurricanes. And then the Panthers had their magical run to the Stanley Cup Final which got me to like hockey. That was '96. That year I also started playing Pitching Machine baseball. But I hadn't watched baseball up to that point. My first recollection of baseball was in 1997 when the Marlins played the Braves in the NLCS. I loved it and have been a fan ever since. I can't say that I was able to follow them as closely as I wanted to though. In 1998 my parents divorced and I was sent to live with my grandparents in Florida. The only baseball that I saw was on WGN where I would watch the Cubs. I got to see a lot of Sosa and McGwire's home run chase which got me hooked even more into the game. I didn't get to watch the Marlins play much until 2000 when I was back living with my dad and we moved to California. I was able to see 6 games a year on TV against the Giants and every time they played the Braves I watched them on TBS. I remember in 2001 when my dad taught me how to read box scores so I would grab the sports section out of the newspaper in the mornings and take it to school to look at box scores and standings. My favorite players around this era were Mike Lowell, Luis Castillo, Ryan Dempster, Kevin Millar, Cliff Floyd, Preston Wilson, Matt Clement, and Antonio Alfonseca. But the rise of the internet was what helped me a lot. I was able to follow pretty much everything about the team. That is what I have had to use ever since. One of these days I would like to live in Miami and be able to be around fellow fans but until then I will continue to support the team from Sacramento CA. It's funny because of all the Miami teams I was hooked on the Marlins and baseball last yet it's my favorite sport and by far my favorite team.
  9. I see wins coming on Saturday and Sunday. I hope I'm right
  10. It's better than the redundant lineup we've had. It would be nice to win a game by 2 runs.
  11. If we keeping winning things will fall into place. The remaining schedule is touch but so were the Rockies and Braves. If Hanley picks it up, look out.
  12. What an awesome game to go to. Unfortunately Ricky's pitch count got up in a hurry, but I thought he pitched tremendously. Maybe if Cantu didn't make 2 errors (that foul ball should have been caught), Nolasco could have completed 7. The one thing I was pretty angry at was on that Rowand 2 run homer. Not that it was ruled a homer by the umps, but the fact that they didn't show one replay of it at the game. Not a single one. Even after it was reviewed, they didn't show one single replay. Meanwhile they were showing replays of every single Giants hit. I was around a couple of Marlin fans and we were all pretty ticked off. It's almost like they knew it was fan interference, so they refused to show it on the jumbo-tron. But tell me this. If the umps went under the tent and reversed the call and called it fan interference, do you think the Giants would have shown a replay then?? Well of course they would. That's like taking homerism to another level. Show the replay so that fans can see it and have an objective response on the call. I don't know why, but that really bothered me. Other than that, great game, great experience. I've been to AT&T park about 10 times in my life and it truly is an amazing ball-park. I'm going tomorrow and Wed. Johnson vs Cain, I'm exciteddd. GO MARLINS!!!! Ballparks aren't allowed to show replays of close plays due to an agreement with the Umpires' Union. I read Ron Luciano's books and he was a former umpire and he told stories about umps getting mobbed after games, mainly in the Caribbean winter league. I wonder if that would be a reason for no replays. They don't want to jeopardize umps safety.
  13. Hey guys, I am new to this board. I've used ESPN Message board for years without knowing about this one. I think I can say with 99.9% certainty that I am the biggest (in passion and body size) Marlins fan in Sacramento, Ca. Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that if you watch the Marlins game in SF tonight and see someone with a Marlins jersey in the stands there is a good chance that it will be me. Go Johnson! I'm a die hard Marlins fan residing in Hayward, CA and I will be at the game as well tonight representing us well! Should be a great game. Go Johnson, GO MARLINS !!! Oh nice, I'm glad I'm not alone. lol
