July 31, 201015 yr Volstad should be part of this poll, I was gonna vote for him just for coming back strong tonight. His statline wasn't great, but at least he finally got a win. I don't think I've ever seen Nunez as filthy as he looked tonight.
July 31, 201015 yr I should've chose Gaby for the FOTG, just to throw him a vote...nice to see him hit a homer. Cody as well. But the bullpen did great tonight which was really nice to see! I had my doubts about this game but we won it. Now if we can get great pitching from Ricky and JJ in the next two games, things will be good.. Overall a pretty good game and hey Volstad didn't give up that many runs so that's comforting to know heh although it definitely wasn't easy for him! I think that "intern" gave us some good luck some how...
July 31, 201015 yr Chris seems to really struggle in the first inning.. as evident by the 34 pitch effort tonight. hopefully this can give him some confidence going forward and he can throw some groundballs earlier in the game. either way, was a good W tonight.

I think that's fair.
July 31, 201015 yr My vote is other...as in Volstad. He went 5 innings (he started the 6th, right?) and only allowed 2 runs, both earned. He didn't implode like I thought he would. HOwever the Cubbies imploded..17-2 spanking. That a football score.

Or with one out left saying how he can tell leo was going to have a good inning because of how he got the first batter out. Please stop trying to jinx the team in late innings. ffs. Not that I'm Mr. Optimistic, but when Venable came up in the 9th all they did was mention his HR's in Florida. We get it, he hit a couple of HR's in the series down here. I even mentioned this on the gamethread. Announcers/commentators from other teams don't seem to do that. Not nearly as much, at least.

I don't think they were trying to say the Venable thing with any foreboding, They both seemed to think that Leo was gonna mow everything down tonight. But mentioning the Venable homers in the other series is just doing something that announcers should do.
