  1. Oh, whoops. My mistake on that end...I kind of forgot that you said that... :whistle
  2. Something Fishy this way comes It's a Stanton world and we are all living in it. The men in teal are real Taking our talents to little Havana You rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrang?
  3. Miami has been mediocre for several years, including while I was there. The idea that I couldn't handle it never, ever crossed my mind. It's a mind-blowingly spoiled idea. I'm not sure where you're coming from. I'll be away from the groups of pessimistic students that go to UF, which is insufferable to anyone. It seems like you're under the assumption that I said I couldn't take a losing season. But I doubt whatever I say will change the opinion you have of me as "another typical UF fan", so whatever. I hope Miami picks up Leach, he'd shake up the ACC for the better.I have to hand it to Shannon for really doing his part to clean up the program, it's a shame he couldn't find more success on the field. He was still better than Coker...:thumbdown
  4. I'm really liking "A Teal Finale"
  5. Yep, pretty entitled.Sorry you had to deal with a "stubborn" team And the Marlins have won 2 World Series in 15 years, so that's awfully far from a difficult cross to bear. 2 WS in 15 years...but are we ever seriously talked about as being legitimate any year we didn't make the playoffs? Even the years where the team is pretty decent? The Marlins are competitive most of the time, and that makes me happy. Being competitive is the first step to being a successful team. In contrast to this season in college football, UF was competitive in only 2 of their 5 losses, and I was okay with losing those 2 games. I mean, I wasn't thrilled, but it's all about perspective. One of my favorite gator games actually had them losing (Auburn, 2007), but that's because it was competitive and exciting. I feel I'm not asking any more from UF than any sane fan would ask of their favorite sports team. You're just being difficult. "Thanks" for sympathizing.
  6. UCF beats the 18th ranked Gators!!! Marcus Jordan baby! And we had none other than Rich Waltz calling the game on FSN. Yeah I got a good kick out of that lol I was so confused by it, I was expecting him to refer to Tommy at any given moment. I heard him call a Vanderbilt football game earlier this year. Something just isn't right with Rich on his own...lol
  7. ctina I'm graduating in May as well! (assuming I pass biochemistry...) I'm not the type to feel "entitled" to anything. For starters, I'm a marlins fan (like all of you) and lord knows we have to live with being middle of the pack. As far as school goes, I'm willing to stick by the 4-5 loss seasons because I understand all this stuff is cyclical and that UF has had ridiculous success in the past decade. I was even fortunate, being part of the marching band here, to go to the 2008 national title game. There is a difference, however, from being beaten and being stubborn and this years Florida team was just being stubborn. The perceived unwillingness to change what they were doing on offense doomed the team in all other phases of the game, and at times it was painfully hilarious to watch. In 2007 I was able to accept the losses because I felt the team was competitive and had the opportunity to win every Saturday. This 2010 season was different, any sort of deficit felt unconquerable. All I'm asking for is to be competitive, which every school in Florida should be, given the recruiting that goes on in this state. Also, I'm sick to death of all those students around campus who are entitled. It's those people who tick me off, and just one of the reasons I don't want to be here when things get rough. They complain nonstop and start acting petty when the game doesn't go in favor of UF. In short, a lot of the new kids at UF don't understand good sportsmanship. As far as partying goes...when I was still in the band the tenured members had a saying: "Drink to victory, or drink to wash away defeat. Either way, we're drinking!".
  8. lol, bye Urban. Thank heavens I'm graduating from the University of Florida this year, I don't think I could handle another (relatively) poor season while taking classes here. Also, congrats to UCF! I wouldn't quite agree that they've outgrown C-USA, but I would love to see them go to the Big East. Lets just see them be consistent from year to year before anything happens, though.
  9. That Century Tower picture looks a bit fishy...like it's an old picture. Though I definitely agree that the Reflecting Pond is gorgeous. Well, from the perspective of a UF senior, I'd say go with UCF. Ignoring my biases, you have to go with the school that best suits your interest and it seems that UCF is that school for you. Best of luck in choosing your undergraduate institution, college is pretty awesome. (sometimes...)
  10. That's what we call "selling a product", my friends. ESPN is a master of money, for sure.
  11. Does Loria have a mission now? To prove all these analysts and experts wrong; that the Marlins can be a legit contender? I like and I'm excited by the aggressiveness shown by him early, but I'll temper my expectations until the start of the season.
  12. 2010 WAR Uggla 5.1 Paulino 1.1 Maybin .4 Buck 2.9 Infante 2.1 Whoever plays 3B/CF opposite CC needs a 1.6 Yes, I understand it is very rough math, but Uggla DID overachieve on BABIP and his defense isn't going to get better. Buck's numbers are better outside of Toronto lately and catchers usually come into their own older. Infante, has done this for two years and that is not asking for a lot. Not included in this, is the additional players we will sign with the money Uggla is not getting. Oh, and the multiple multiple relievers we have received who are all awesome. We don't live in a land of infinite payroll where we keep Uggla and add things around him. Big picture people. Our offense has lost nothing, our bullpen is better, and we have Nunez (and Paulino, Badenhop, and Veras if possible) to trade and $5 million more to spend. It would have been nice to also plop a good B+ or better SP prospect on top of Infante/Dunn (Dunn is awesome btw), but the Marlins did their due diligence. BIG PICTURE. I have -0- problems with Uggla, Maybin, and Miller trades, and the Buck free agency signing. We are a better team right now, than we were a week ago. This is all presuming that Buck plays like he did last year which I personally don't think he will and even if he does, his K/BB was still Miguel Olivo like and Infante doesn't walk either so we'd still be losing that from Uggla. And yes, Uggla turning down that kind of money is maddening but it doesn't mean you rush into an impulsive trade. It means you wait until the break and trade him when demand is higher and a better deal presents itself. Or they may have sold high on him. People on here were calling him out, saying he'd regress. If he ends up regressing, the front office will look maddeningly brilliant and the braves will have egg on their face. Not defending the trade, because Uggla's a douche, but I'm trying to be positive about this mess.
  13. While I'm saddened to leave the Marlins family and thankful for all they did for me in my career, I'm certainly MORE excited to join the #Braves' organization." Uggla lives in Nashville, a drive of several hours from Atlanta. #Marlins #MLB What a dick thing to say. This.
  14. Wins are the ultimate measure in a team sport. Good point, lets look at the facts. WORLD SERIES WINS: Florida Marlins:2 Tampa Bay Rays: 0 Now, quit being a troll. It's not cute anymore.
  15. I'm honestly not sure I can watch this team next year. I'm deadly serious, and I'm not usually the type to overreact. I'm still waiting for the silver lining or the good spin. RIP Uggla's mission, one of the funnier things to pop up on a regular basis in the game threads.
