  1. Oh, whoops. My mistake on that end...I kind of forgot that you said that... :whistle
  2. Something Fishy this way comes It's a Stanton world and we are all living in it. The men in teal are real Taking our talents to little Havana You rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrang?
  3. Miami has been mediocre for several years, including while I was there. The idea that I couldn't handle it never, ever crossed my mind. It's a mind-blowingly spoiled idea. I'm not sure where you're coming from. I'll be away from the groups of pessimistic students that go to UF, which is insufferable to anyone. It seems like you're under the assumption that I said I couldn't take a losing season. But I doubt whatever I say will change the opinion you have of me as "another typical UF fan", so whatever. I hope Miami picks up Leach, he'd shake up the ACC for the better.I have to hand it to Shannon for really doing his part to clean up the program, it's a shame he couldn't find more success on the field. He was still better than Coker...:thumbdown
  4. I'm really liking "A Teal Finale"
  5. Yep, pretty entitled.Sorry you had to deal with a "stubborn" team And the Marlins have won 2 World Series in 15 years, so that's awfully far from a difficult cross to bear. 2 WS in 15 years...but are we ever seriously talked about as being legitimate any year we didn't make the playoffs? Even the years where the team is pretty decent? The Marlins are competitive most of the time, and that makes me happy. Being competitive is the first step to being a successful team. In contrast to this season in college football, UF was competitive in only 2 of their 5 losses, and I was okay with losing those 2 games. I mean, I wasn't thrilled, but it's all about perspective. One of my favorite gator games actually had them losing (Auburn, 2007), but that's because it was competitive and exciting. I feel I'm not asking any more from UF than any sane fan would ask of their favorite sports team. You're just being difficult. "Thanks" for sympathizing.
  6. UCF beats the 18th ranked Gators!!! Marcus Jordan baby! And we had none other than Rich Waltz calling the game on FSN. Yeah I got a good kick out of that lol I was so confused by it, I was expecting him to refer to Tommy at any given moment. I heard him call a Vanderbilt football game earlier this year. Something just isn't right with Rich on his own...lol
  7. ctina I'm graduating in May as well! (assuming I pass biochemistry...) I'm not the type to feel "entitled" to anything. For starters, I'm a marlins fan (like all of you) and lord knows we have to live with being middle of the pack. As far as school goes, I'm willing to stick by the 4-5 loss seasons because I understand all this stuff is cyclical and that UF has had ridiculous success in the past decade. I was even fortunate, being part of the marching band here, to go to the 2008 national title game. There is a difference, however, from being beaten and being stubborn and this years Florida team was just being stubborn. The perceived unwillingness to change what they were doing on offense doomed the team in all other phases of the game, and at times it was painfully hilarious to watch. In 2007 I was able to accept the losses because I felt the team was competitive and had the opportunity to win every Saturday. This 2010 season was different, any sort of deficit felt unconquerable. All I'm asking for is to be competitive, which every school in Florida should be, given the recruiting that goes on in this state. Also, I'm sick to death of all those students around campus who are entitled. It's those people who tick me off, and just one of the reasons I don't want to be here when things get rough. They complain nonstop and start acting petty when the game doesn't go in favor of UF. In short, a lot of the new kids at UF don't understand good sportsmanship. As far as partying goes...when I was still in the band the tenured members had a saying: "Drink to victory, or drink to wash away defeat. Either way, we're drinking!".
  8. lol, bye Urban. Thank heavens I'm graduating from the University of Florida this year, I don't think I could handle another (relatively) poor season while taking classes here. Also, congrats to UCF! I wouldn't quite agree that they've outgrown C-USA, but I would love to see them go to the Big East. Lets just see them be consistent from year to year before anything happens, though.
  9. That Century Tower picture looks a bit fishy...like it's an old picture. Though I definitely agree that the Reflecting Pond is gorgeous. Well, from the perspective of a UF senior, I'd say go with UCF. Ignoring my biases, you have to go with the school that best suits your interest and it seems that UCF is that school for you. Best of luck in choosing your undergraduate institution, college is pretty awesome. (sometimes...)
  10. That's what we call "selling a product", my friends. ESPN is a master of money, for sure.
  11. Does Loria have a mission now? To prove all these analysts and experts wrong; that the Marlins can be a legit contender? I like and I'm excited by the aggressiveness shown by him early, but I'll temper my expectations until the start of the season.
  12. 2010 WAR Uggla 5.1 Paulino 1.1 Maybin .4 Buck 2.9 Infante 2.1 Whoever plays 3B/CF opposite CC needs a 1.6 Yes, I understand it is very rough math, but Uggla DID overachieve on BABIP and his defense isn't going to get better. Buck's numbers are better outside of Toronto lately and catchers usually come into their own older. Infante, has done this for two years and that is not asking for a lot. Not included in this, is the additional players we will sign with the money Uggla is not getting. Oh, and the multiple multiple relievers we have received who are all awesome. We don't live in a land of infinite payroll where we keep Uggla and add things around him. Big picture people. Our offense has lost nothing, our bullpen is better, and we have Nunez (and Paulino, Badenhop, and Veras if possible) to trade and $5 million more to spend. It would have been nice to also plop a good B+ or better SP prospect on top of Infante/Dunn (Dunn is awesome btw), but the Marlins did their due diligence. BIG PICTURE. I have -0- problems with Uggla, Maybin, and Miller trades, and the Buck free agency signing. We are a better team right now, than we were a week ago. This is all presuming that Buck plays like he did last year which I personally don't think he will and even if he does, his K/BB was still Miguel Olivo like and Infante doesn't walk either so we'd still be losing that from Uggla. And yes, Uggla turning down that kind of money is maddening but it doesn't mean you rush into an impulsive trade. It means you wait until the break and trade him when demand is higher and a better deal presents itself. Or they may have sold high on him. People on here were calling him out, saying he'd regress. If he ends up regressing, the front office will look maddeningly brilliant and the braves will have egg on their face. Not defending the trade, because Uggla's a douche, but I'm trying to be positive about this mess.
  13. While I'm saddened to leave the Marlins family and thankful for all they did for me in my career, I'm certainly MORE excited to join the #Braves' organization." Uggla lives in Nashville, a drive of several hours from Atlanta. #Marlins #MLB What a dick thing to say. This.
  14. Wins are the ultimate measure in a team sport. Good point, lets look at the facts. WORLD SERIES WINS: Florida Marlins:2 Tampa Bay Rays: 0 Now, quit being a troll. It's not cute anymore.
  15. I'm honestly not sure I can watch this team next year. I'm deadly serious, and I'm not usually the type to overreact. I'm still waiting for the silver lining or the good spin. RIP Uggla's mission, one of the funnier things to pop up on a regular basis in the game threads.
  16. I can just see how they told Miller about this: "Hey Jon, congrats on getting into the Hall. By the way...you're fired. It was fun!" It's a shame, I rather liked Jon Miller. While Joe Morgan was not the most exciting guy in the world, he beats Buck any day of the century.
  17. Hah, I'm not used to good news! This is awesome, I'm anxious to see how much improvement our defense will have!
  18. I'm glad Cody is finally getting the recognition he deserves, as streaky as he is. I just hope he doesn't cool off before the postseason is over...otherwise, he'll quickly turn from hero to zero and become a goat. Amazing what getting away from the Marlins can do for you on a national recognition level.
  19. Seriously, every time Trey Burton ran the option at QB, good things happened. Every time (outside of the last drive) Brantley was at QB, he was pressured, and he either missed the throw or was sacked. I am absolutely baffled at some of the stupid play calling that the Gators have on offense this year. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you get your ball to your PLAYMAKER when you need a play late in the game. Yet on that last drive, there was Trey Burton on the sidelines, not even out there to try and catch the ball and make a play. And Chas Henry is nowhere near to blame for this. He's easily the best punter in all of college football, only kicking because of an injury to our regular kicker Sturgis. The three major reasons we lost 1. Playcalling 2. Lack of playmakers (outside of Burton) 3. Kicking The defense did their job for the most part. 10 points is good enough. This offense is just the worst I've seen our offense since I started watching Gator football. It's certainly been rough to watch this nonsense, but I guess it was bound to come eventually. Brantley is being put in a position to fail, and that's too bad. Urban also needs to get involved again...this team is super, super sloppy. A shame that 10 first quarter points are what did them in. In other news, misery loves company.
  20. It's getting close to time to end the Brantley experiment. We're putting a pocket quarterback and expect him to thrive in a running QB system (spread, with screens and option plays). If Urban Meyer grew some balls, he would put Trey Burton in at QB. He fits the system our offense runs, and he's the playmaker this offense desperately needs. Sure he's a true freshman, but he's got Tim Tebow like poise out there. Also, Steve Addazio is still a terrible offensive coordinator. He should look over at Mississippi State's side, go over there and talk to Dan Mullen. Then he'll finally understand what a real offensive coordinator should sound like. This.
  21. I've been hovering around Dead Rising 2 for some time now, though school is making it impossible to play at the moment. I'm also working on Final Fantasy III on my DS, and intermittently getting trophies in Resident Evil 5/Final Fantasy XIII, replaying Final Fantasy Tactics/Dino Crisis, and playing Megaman 10 when I feel like playing something quick.
  22. I'm just checking in to say I feel foolish eating crow,, and all that jazz. There's a rule going around, namely this one: Rule 7, Section 2, Article 2-2: "On fourth down before a change of team possession, when a Team A fumble is caught or recovered by a Team A player other than the fumbler, the ball is dead. If the catch or recovery is beyond the spotof the fumble, the ball is returned to the spot of the fumble. If the catch or recovery i...s behind the spot of the fumble, the ball remains at the spot of the catch or recovery." ...and I'm wondering why it wasn't enacted. No excuses here, UF played awful, but what does this rule mean? Am I just hopeful that this would have killed the clinching drive?
  23. If the NFL locks out, it may suffer similarly to how baseball suffered in popularity, and baseball may have the chance to rise again! (/optimism)
  24. Scoring at will would have resulted in a 50-point blowout, Bama was stymied in the second half, and if not for the pick-6 it would have been a scoreless half for the Crimson Tide. Alabama didn't put in their second-stringers until the very last drive. I'm not denying that Florida was trounced, but it wasn't a defiling like last year's SEC championship game.
  25. At least the state of Florida is well represented in the Polls. I don't agree that Florida should have dropped 7 spots after losing to the #1 away. They didn't just lose though, they were embarrassed. They got spanked. I wouldn't say embarrassed, though it certainly wasn't pretty for UF. They outgained the Tide in total yardage and moved the ball relatively well against that vaunted defense...the issues that sealed Florida's fate were the really awful misfires in the red zone . If you reach the opponents 25 yard line about 5 times in a game, reasonably you expect to score 3/4 touchdowns and hit a field goal 2/1 times. I feel the game was much closer in total play than the score indicated, though I'll be the first to admit it still was a bruising beat down. I just hope I can come back here in December, talking about UF as SEC champs.
