The Marlins' pursuit of Hill could signal their readiness to name a manager sooner rather than later. Edwin Rodriguez and Bo Porter are the two confirmed candidates vying for the job. Team President David Samson last week said the club could be ready to make an annoucement after the World Series, which ended Monday night. If Hill agrees to rejoin the Marlins, third base/infield coach Joe Espada likely would be offered a position in the minor leagues. The Marlins promoted Espada from minor league infield coordinator to Fredi Gonzalez's big league staff before the start of last season. November 2, 201015 yr Having Hill back would a godsend, make it happen! I might not like some of Edwin's decisions but I'd much rather stay with him then go for an unknown in Porter. I think it makes more sense making a permanent move at manager before moving into the new ballpark in 2012, especially if there are more options in the manager market after next season.

But I'm fuzzy why Espada has to go back in the minors unless the current 1st base coach goes to 3rd base???
November 2, 201015 yr Who's the current first base coach? I really like Espada and have always thought of Hill being more of a 1B coach. Why not keep Espada at third and put Hill at first?

November 2, 201015 yr love that hill is coming back and i really think edwin was the best choice right now in terms of the players respect for him and how he performed in some pretty sh*tty circumstnaces. i guess this mean espada is going to become the outfield coach.
November 2, 201015 yr Espada is staying at third. Hill will become first base coach and take over Espada's old job of infield coach. Also returning are Brandon Hyde as bench coach and John Mallee as hitting coach.

November 3, 201015 yr awesome news!! I really like that we are keeping Espada. He has been awesome as 3rd base coach, he really makes good running decisions compared to the ones we had before.
