  1. Speaking of tickets for sale, I have two extra tickets for today's game. Section 31, over the Marlins bullpen, Row 6. $20 each. I know its last minute, but the StubHub listing just expired. I have extra tickets available for all May home games, as well (2 in row 6, 1 in row 1) as I'm currently finishing up my Masters in Boston and won't be back home until the end of the month. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks!
  2. @willmanso Per #Marlins: the Miccosukee signage at the new ballpark is NOT part of naming rights. Just a quadrant sponsor. FYI. That takes care of the Red Quadrant. Any guesses for Blue, Green or Yellow?
  3. Thoughts on the Carnival cruise lines logo being stylized together with the new fish? Might explain lack of side fins and tail and why the marlin is orange... switch Carnival's red to Marlins' orange and it's not TOO far of a reach from there.... Samson said naming rights partner of the stadium would be incorporated in many aspects of the team, not just the name of the park. Perhaps I'm just reaching, but I can see it.
  4. I love it! Can't wait to see how it works together with the uniform and new wordmark - evidently, this is from a future t-shirt design document, which explains the plain block letter "Marlins" above it. As far as the logo itself goes, I love it!
  5. The stadium shot is from the '97 World Series. My sister bought it for me the other day. They're like $10 and very good quality.
  6. Following up a World Series clinching strikeout with a ceremonial final pitch just seems a little anti-climactic. The Mets were able to plan that cus they - well, cus everyone and their mother - knew they were going nowhere fast. =)
  7. There was also "Miracle Over Miami" after the 2003 Championship
  8. Not a big fan of the logo itself but this is the color combination I'm hoping for.
  9. Many of you may have heard on the broadcast last night that fans will have the chance to vote for the all-time Marlins team to commemorate our 19 seasons as the Florida Marlins. A special ceremony will take place on Closing Day. The voting is now underway at http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/fla/fan_forum/all_time_marlins_team.jsp Let the debating begin!
  10. Plan is to open it in March 2012 and have at least 1 college game along with at least 1 exhibition MLB game there before the season starts. I think I read the same article. IIRC, it mentioned one Canes game and one ST game prior to the Marlin's opener. BUT, it also mentioned that they want to attract a Superbowl in the future. That will really upset the purists. I think that would be appropriate. For every 1,000 baseball games, we'll allow one football game to be played in our baseball stadium. Superbowl in a stadium with 37,000 seats? Highly unlikely... I believe they want to attract a lower level college bowl game or something like the Under-Armour All-American High School Senior Game.
  11. I'm always skeptical of the way players "seem" in articles, but he does not sound happy to be here; he sounds kinda like a miserable dude. Buck up, kid. You're going to get 600 ABs if you stay healthy; stop complaining. I got the same feeling, but I'm guessing it has to do more with his not being able to play winter ball than with being here. I know I wouldn't be too thrilled about getting traded and then being shut down during the offseason. I'm guessing once he starts playing again (as a regular, no less) we'll be reading a different tune out of him...
  12. PERRY HILL, BABY!!! HE'S COMING BACK! "The Marlins also will announce the return of infield and first base coach Perry Hill, who was held the same position with the club from 2002-06." WOOHOOO!!! http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/florida-marlins/fl-florida-marlins-manager-110210,0,7942615.story
  13. Unbelievable! If you look at the latest panoramic, there's a group of workers lounging to the right, one sleeping (quite blatantly!) and, the worst of offense of them all, the construction worker to the left is sitting there and smiling at the camera! They should be whipped, have their lunch breaks revoked and be forced to work 24 hours a day with nothing more than a small cup of water every few hours.
  14. Gosh Darnit. Why do guys doing manual labor in the Florida Sun need breaks. Bunch on wieners. Heavy Dose of Sarcasm above. considering there is a difference between a sun break and sleeping and the fact that it has been incredibly nice lately and mild, you're wrong. im sorry but there is no excuse for laying down sleeping at any job, no matter if you are on a break. I'm sure those nurses and doctors pulling 24-hour shifts and taking a nap in the on-call room would agree lol
  15. I'm all set to go! Got my seat in Sect 31, Row 1 (In HR territory, right over the Marlins bullpen, unobstructed views of the entire field, clear view of the scoreboard) Not as close to the field as I currently am in the Fish Tank (126), but the left field seats at the new ballpark were clearly better than the equivalent R-CF seats (big scoreboard behind you, overhang above). They offered me seats in the overhang as well, but I enjoy being closer to field level. Either way, I ca't wait! 2012 hurry up and get here already! PS - Nice to see you at the sales center, BroncoBob!
  16. Right on the money, Bob. Got an email and a phone call this morning... Have my appointment for July 6!
  17. Gotta love the radio announcer's slap in the face toward Hanley... something along the lines of: "No questions here. The entire team is the player of the game."
  18. I don't have a problem with un-televised games throughout the season (certainly not ideal though), but there's no reason an away game should ever be un-televised. If networks are only going to guarantee a certain number of games, then make sure all 81 road games get put on tv first.
  19. Got mine today as well... AWESOME!! And to answer your questions, yes the opening day ticket is always that gigantic :gofish The Opening Day ticket is usually a little nicer than what we got this year... I found it pretty interesting that they put Uggla on there though. Coghlan, JJ and Hanley being on there was a given as they're on the website header...
  20. The Marlins website has a new article up about the stadium. Look forward to a second webcam in about two weeks. My new addiction is checking the webcam everyday to see whats going on. I agree. I try to get myself to not look at it for like a few weeks at a time so i can truly see how much they've done, but I just cant help but look at it once a day? ANybody know the where the 2nd camera will be? I don't remember where I read it, but I believe the 2nd camera will be on top of one of the Super-Columns looking into the bowl... It'll be awesome! Woo!
  21. Kinda a dud. Lots of stuff for kids, though not much else. That's pretty much what FanFest has become the last few years. Lots of bounce-houses and games for the kids and not much else. FanFest 2012 should be fun =)
  22. Can't wait for the 2nd webcam to get up and running, even if it's some time away. I read somewhere that it's going to be positioned on the top of the SW-most super-column so that we can watch the progress of the inside of the stadium. Drove by there the other day and it's really much more impressive in person!
