Heading into his final season of arbitration, Dan Uggla has switched agents. The second baseman left Jeff Borris and the Beverly Hills Sports Council and joined Terry Bross at Gaylord Sports Management, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Uggla makes $7.8MM this season and will earn more than that in 2011 before becoming eligible for free agency. The Marlins may not let him hit free agency, however. President of baseball operations Admin Beinfest told Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel that the team has interest in locking up some players to long term deals. Uggla, who just reached the 20-homer plateau for the fifth consecutive season, is a prime candidate for an extension.

 Tsk tsk tsk... Gaylord Perry wants a word with you folks and he doesn't seem too happy.... :p :shifty In all seriousness, let's hope that this new agent isn't going to ruin a chance of keeping Uggla on the Marlins. It would be nice to keep Uggla for a few more years

Well it's normally the players choice on where they want to go but the agents job is to get the best offers possible for their client.

I pray that Uggla stays to word on how he wants to stay and signs a contract like total 25 Mil over 3 years and we pay him 2010: 7 MM

2011: 8.5 MM 2012: 9.5 MM.

He's worth more then that but he says he'd love to stay down here so I'm looking for a discount as should the F.O.

Agreed. I would love to see Uggla with us for a few more years, so I'm hoping also he signs with the Marlins. We'll have to wait and see
