The excellent Marlins team, with their great young pitching and more than adequate offense have beat the Yankees Dreadnought. You see, the Yankees were merely on a "fishing trip", the outcome was clear, the Yankees would run away with this one. However, it appears that the Marlin's have a superior military, with cannons like Ivan Rodriguez, fast moving ground forces provided by Juan Pierre, superior strategy by Captain Jack McKeon, and a bomb hit by Alex Gonzalez. The Yankee Dreadnought was sunk, and deservedly so, and the Marlins gain the prize they have deserved since May 15th, because since then, no other team has been better at winning than the Marlins

By the way, interesting point of view on the affirmative action issue. I am Latina and it makes a lot of sense... However, I am afraid that if they abolish that law some day, some schools admissions may deprive some "minority" students from attending their schools... I don't know what would be the best approach. :confused

Racism is a very hard issue to deal with, but the system I propose would be inherently not racist, and it would work out with the psychological studies of Vygotsky (the ability to bring those up to speed who can be brought up to speed...) and socioeconomic class.

A bunch of us are from Miami. And I haven't gone to the site yet (sorry, have alot alot of stuff to cover) but frankly there are alot of politically astute people on this board (and Das chimes in every once in a while as well). Here's a picture of me, I'm the guy on the left. Well, no that's Yankees legend Paul O'Neill (http://www.baseball-reference.com/o/o'neipa01.shtml). We have a lot in common. He likes the Yankees and I like the Yankees. His favorite ballplayer is Paul O'Neill and my favorite ballplayer is Paul O'Neill. He would like to have millions of dollars (and he does have that much) and I would like millions of dollars. He has a Catholic father and I have a Catholic father. He enjoys acting ntus after screwing up playing baseball and I enjoy watching him act nuts when he screws up playing baseball. He's a whtie guy and I'm a white guy...

 

But I am WAY whiter than he is. I am super-white...almost whiter than wonderbread. Look at the picture! My God, if dark black people are "chocolate" then I am white chocolate. See my face? I am the face of a soon to be ruling white man...I'm the face of "the man"...

 

Or maybe I'm too white. I don't think the man is as white as I am...I don't think the man has been sunburn through a T-shirt. Man, I know only three people as white or whiter than me and they are my brother, Madonna, and Michael Jackson.

 

I'm so white, I'm a minority...especially because I am 50% Italian, that makes me even more of a minority. Maybe I will be discriminated against in life. Maybe I am already discriminated! My bosses at work might hate me because I'm "weird looking." Yeah, I'm so un-tan I might offend people's eyes! What if it hurt my ability to get jobs? Damn, I'm in deeper than I initially thought!

 

I guess I should just give up or try to get a picture next to Michael Jackson.

The Fighting Whites basketball team was organized in early February (2002) by a group of Native American and non-Indian students of the University of Northern Colorado with the intent of playing intramural basketball.

You are right! That is why I think the "No mixing" thing that Juanky said is BS. Of course there was mestizaje. However, many indians died while under the Spaniard Yoke. Most died because of the sexual transmitted deseases and illnesses that the Europeans brought to America.

The carribean islands populations are heavily African, because of the huge amount of slavery in the sugar plantations. In fact, I believe Puerto Ricans for example on average are 60% african and the rest is split between spanish and native. Somewhere like Haiti I believe might even be considerbly more (the castas did overthrow the place.)

They would fight a civil war, when the son of the southern empire (if my memory serves me right) captured his brother and established a new capital. This set the stage for Pizarro and the boys to take over.

You are right... I said sexually transmitted deseases and other illnesses, which of course include smallpox. However, I would have to do more research on that syphilis issue. I could swear I read it actually spread through Europe before they even came in contact with the indians. The indians were not as promiscous as the Europeans for that matter anyway. :mischief2 But I will investigate.
