My F**king Twins!

Featured Replies

Okay...

Trading Pierzynski for Joe Nathan and 2 Minor Leaguers- GREAT MOVE

Letting LaTroy Hawkins go in favor of Eddie "one minute and he'll have allowed 2 runs already" Guardado is THE WORST MOVE IN ANY BASEBALL OFFSEASON OF THE PAST 10 YEARS.

Trading Eric Milton who won 21 games a few years back but now is often injured, but still a good pitcher when healthy, for Silva and Punto. Slight Edge to the Phillies.

What the fu*k are the Twins thinking??!!

Trading Milton I can bear because we have 2 Aces on our staff with Brad Radke and Kyle Lohse. But if he returns to his 20 win form I'll kill myself.

But still keeping Guardado the most overrated piece of garbage in baseball since Bud Selig uttered the words "mama" over LaTroy Hawins is sheer insanity.

Now rumors are that we are going to trade Jacque Jones the youngest of our trio of All Star Outfielders of Jones, Hunter, and Stewart.

If we trade Jones we better get some serious talent for him then.

But the Twins are banking this all on a few things...

- Eddie Guardado will get his head out of his a** and stop blowing saves, allowing hits, allowing runs before getting bailed out by the rest of our team to make Eddie look good.

- Adam Johnson replacing Milton as one of the Twins 5 man rotation which has been good the past few years. Heres the Twins projected rotation for 2004...

Brad Radke (the ace in the hole, kind of a Greg Maddux type pitcher)

Kyle Lohse (the young gun of our staff, the flamethrower, this kids gonna be a star)

Johan Santana (the other young gun and flamethrower of our staff)

Joe Mays (the retard on the staff, gave up an average of 4 RUNS PER INNING FROM JUNE TO AUGUST)

Adam Johnson (the really, really young gun, brought up from the minors after shredding them apart, has a 93+ fastball, but needs to face big league competition for me to be sold on him, but he has more promise then Mays ever will)

- Joe Mauer replacing an All Star Catcher. But Mauer who is a local boy who grew up in Eden Prarie (a Minneapolis Suburb) Was taken over Mark Prior for a reason. Peter Gammons and many baseball experts say that Mauer could be one the best catchers to put on a mit if he plays to what he should.

So all in all as long as Guardado doesn't f*ck it up in the 9th inning (which is like asking Steinbrenner to shop at the Dollar Store) and the Twins don't trade away Jacque Jones for nothing, I might walk away happy.

But as long as the Twins have their 5 playmakers with...

Torii Hunter (CF)

Shannon Stewart (LF)

Doug Mienkietwiecz (1B)

Brad Radke (P)

Kyle Lohse (P)

They'll have a shot to do special things.

The only reason Mauer was taken over Prior was for financial reasons. Obviously, anyone would have taken Prior over Mauer. That is really a No Decision.

The weird thing is the Twins' signing bonus to Prior was worth about 2 million more then the Cubs', but I have heard a lot of stories as to why Prior didn't want to become a Twin.

Maybe he wanted to hit, or live in Chicago, or just wanted to be on the Cubs. Who knows. All I know is that I thank God it happened.

You're in the central, you'll be fine.

Yeah, too bad we don't have 200 million to spend on anyone we want...

Yeah, too bad we don't have 200 million to spend on anyone we want...

Why the low blow? I speak against the Yankees high spending, but I can't stop being a fan of a team that has been passed down by my bronx roots. I can't stop liking the yankees if they win too little, win too much, spend too little, or spend too much. They are my team, and if you cannot accept that, then you are obviously are just plain hateful.

I wrote this in another topic:

"The team the Yankees are making has an star at every position.

C Jorge Posada 3rd in MVP voting, 30 homers, over .900 ops

1B Jason Giambi 2001 MVP, Perenial 40+ homers, another year with a better than .400 obp

2B Alfonso Soriano All star, missed 40-40 slightly, only Willie Mays and OF #25 have went 35-35 twice

SS Derek Jeter 3rd place for the batting title, possibly one of the greatest clutch hitters ever

3B Aaron Boone was on the NL all star team, best range for a 3rd baseman

RF Gary Sheffield 3rd in MVP voting, 39 homers and over a .330 avg

CF ??? Kenny Lofton or Soriano (if we sign kaz matsui)

LF Hideki MAtsui hit almost 110 rbis in his rookie season, hit .330 with RISP, and has started to regain his power swing

DH Bernie Williams career .305 hitter, removed from injury he can easily bat .320

SP Mike Mussina HOF pitcher if he is typical of mike mussina

SP Vazquez one of the best pitchers in the NL, has finally started living up to the hype

SP Contreras cubas best starting pitcher, has an era UNDER 2 as a starter in 2003

other possible starters: Pettitte (21 game winner), Lieber (20 game winner, has come back from surgery well), JEff Weaver (young with electric stuff, could he get his head back on straight?)

bullpen:

Mariano Rivera simply the best postseason pitcher in history, had his best season ever in 2003

Paul Quantrill consistent 2 or less era man

Flash Gordon 91 Ks, nasty stuff

Steve Karsay throws in the mid to high 90s and eats up innings with a good era

Chris Hammond his era tripled from 0.95 to 2.86...WOW! sadly he will prbably be traded

Felix Heredia already has a ring (thanks to the marlins), and his less than 2 era with the yanks and coming off an unbelievable season

How can the Yankees possibly lose? On paper (key words "on paper") they would destroy any team in history, including the red sox with Curt Schilling (vazquez being argubly better.)

This is just wrong. "

I'd be a real bandwagoner if I let what other people think or what the yankee team does to determine whether I am a fan. I go to Mets games for Pete's sake!

No we took Mauer because at the time we had enough good pitchers.

And Peter Gammons had this to say last night in an interview Minneapolis ABC (KSTP-5)....

"Joe Mauer could be one of the greatest catchers of all time. But that remains to be seen once we see how he manages a game and how he does against big league pitching. But right now he has the talent, brain, and drive to be great. There's a reason Mauer was taken over Prior. Prior and Mauer will go down as the gems of that draft."

Brad Radke (the ace in the hole, kind of a Greg Maddux type pitcher)

Kyle Lohse (the young gun of our staff, the flamethrower, this kids gonna be a star)

Johan Santana (the other young gun and flamethrower of our staff)

Johan Santana is the ace of the staff not Radke or Lohse. Also you do know the Twins are a small-market team and cant keep everyone, so whats your problem?

Peter Gammons is an idiot. Don't even get me started on Gammons...

If you think the Twins actually took Mauer over Prior because they liked Mauer better, then you are extremely naive. Mauer will be good, but not Prior good. Even Curt Schilling said himself Prior will be the best pitcher the next 10-15 years. Enough good pitchers?! You do not let go of Prior to get Mauer. The Twins aren't that stupid. Prior wasn't a prospect. EVERYONE knew he would be great and in little time.

is SS is a fa right now?

yes, steward is a fa.

The Mauer's live on the other side of the river, St.Paul or nearby Maplewood. That's about 30+ miles from Eden Prairie. Joe was all-state in basketball, football, and baseball. He almost went to Fla. St. to play QB.

IMO, the Twins drafted him because of his hometown, and they thought he'd be easier to sign. Joe's going to be good, chances are good that he could be a Twin for quite awhile. I wouldn't be able to say the same thing about Prior. I can see Mark leaving for big money as soon as he can, yes bigger money than the Cubs will be willing to pay out.

The Tribune realizes what that would do to their image, so they would pony up and pay ANY price.

Jacque Jones / Juan Encarnancion will be trade to the Braves in the next couple days or at the winter meetings :thumbup

dammit Ed, i swear to God you are reading my mind....

your source isnt my source... is it? :shifty

Here's something I just read I didn't know...The San Diego Padres are trying to trade for JJ. Source San Diego Tribune

I've heard about Jones/Doug M. rumors here in the Twin Cities. Chances are that they're going somewhere. Twins seem to be crazy about S. Stewart and will clear payroll to keep him. As you know, Twins have outfielders and first baseman in the minors "chomping" to come up to the bigs.

I know for a FACT last year during the trading deadline they tried to get the Fish to bite on a Rivas and a prospect for Castillo. They need and want that guy to set the tone to a game. Good lead-off guy are very hard to find, Florida is blessed to have two.....As far as Doug M(FSU grad :angry j/k) would have like to seen him in teal, though I think his bound for NL, don't know where just a gut feeling, his game is suited better for the NL. I thought the Braves might be interest at some point last season.

I would think the demand for Encarnacion would go up after that, thus getting us a better deal.

They are limited on time, players like Juan have to be offered arbitration by 7th of Dec. or be released... more than likely he'll be let go

Tribune isn't going to do another Maddux, trust me.

Rex your crazy if you actually believe the Twins are even CONSIDERING trading Doug Mienkietwicz!

No way are the Twins trading him.

But Jones for Encarnacion is one I've heard also.

How sad is the AL Central that the Twins who barely won last year can completly guts its teama nd still be 'contenders'?
