April 9, 201412 yr No, but really. He's supposed to be a plus plus fielder. That's the one guy you don't put at first, especially if his bat is questionable. Stanton has a good arm, but he's also had injury problems and is our best bat. It's better for him to be in a less strenuous position. Stanton is also the biggest target at 1B and while he is usually a good Rfer, he's inconsistent defensively. And of course the bat is there for an elite 1B. He'd be my choice.
