Son of Dolphins Owner Charged With DUI

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The son of Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga was charged with drunken driving Friday night after police say he struck a pedestrian with his sports-utility vehicle.

Robert Ray Huizenga, 41, was attempting to make a left turn when he drove into the path of a 71-year-old male, who was taken to Broward General Hospital with head and leg injuries, Fort Lauderdale police spokesman Clinton Ward said.

The unidentified pedestrian's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Ward said. Hospital officials said they could not provide information on the man's condition.

Huizenga was charged after failing field sobriety tests, police said. It was unknown late Friday when Huizenga would make his initial court appearance on the charge, or if he retained an attorney.

Court records show that Huizenga was arrested on a DUI charge in 1997.

Calls placed to a Dolphins spokesman were not immediately returned.

DUI's are BS

first of all people have diference level of tolerance to alcohol, yet everyone gets convicted over the same level of alcohol in the blood, when some people are perfectly fine with it.

orisha,

shut up, DUI is serious and no one has the right to drink AND drive. No one has the right to put themselves and others in danger.

and what if you do it consciously and drinking when you should and are perffectly ok, yet because of a ridiculous alcohol level (wich is just above a beer pretty much) you are convicted for a DIU. that's BS.

well how else are they going to keep things under control. people die in accidents caused by drunks as it is. bastards all of them. i am tired of hearing about kids in my old schools that die in accidents because one dumb f*ck couldnt call a taxi after getting trashed at a club.

No Bottle...No Problem. No Driving after Bottle...also no Problem.

but why? that's a ridiculous stance on the issue. i can drink as long as i rettain my avilities to drive propperly, as long as i'm not affected by the alcohol.

It changes all the time depending on so many things that we don't even know all of them.

There is nothing wrong with the DUI laws we have know except they don't catch enough people until after the accident.

and besides, taxies are so expensive. a city, or pretty much a state, with almost no public transportation shouldn't complain about people driving after drinking.

orisha, there needs to be some scientific evidence in court. a breathalizer is good in court to put these people behind bars.

you are right about the transportation. public transportation in florida suck. i find ways home when i know i am going to drink though.
