you know i've ragged on marlins pitching coaches a lot, but I really liked what chuck hernandez said about Conley...Makes me think this velocity jump is legit 

 

Conley always had the talent but lacked the consistency. This season is the first time since early in his minor league career where he actually looks comfortable starting games (I'm guessing the injuries had something to do with his issues). Really like him, but I stand by my old comment that he's a nice long reliever down the line.

A lefty starter throwing 94/95 is pretty rare really...fangraphs did a thing on lefties and how that looks to batters (basically 91 from a rhp is like 92.5 from a lhp)... His slider is definitely a plus pitch. He clearly has some work to do on hise change, but I think you're selling him short by saying he's a long reliever at best. His 4 seam/slider make him a pretty good late inning RP at minimum
