fan catch ball in play

Featured Replies

what rules if fan catch ball inplay like HR do fan get throw out game or he move into new seat? it happen in Tampa ray game tonight

Well, a home run ball is not "in play". However, if you mean a fan reached over and caught a ball that would have hit the wall or been caught, then it depends - if it was going to hit the wall, guaranteed, ground rule double. If it would have been caught, guaranteed, it's an out.

The fan will most likely get thrown out.

UNDER REVIEW

With one out in the third, Thole hit a ball off Smyly to center field that appeared to be a home run. But the umpires ruled fan interference and directed Thole to second base. That led to a Crew Chief review. After viewing all relevant angles, the Replay Official determined that the ball would have left the playing field despite the fan making contact with the ball. Thus the call on the field was overturned, giving Thole his first home run of the season and tying the score at 1.

They need to make it in all ballparks where fan interference is only possible if the fan is literally on the field. Put some space between the fence and the first row. Four-five feet should do it.

A wider gap at Marlins park so fans who are tired of the bullshit can just jump in and commit suicide
