December 5, 20169 yr Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Mark Melancon's four-year contract with the Giants includes an opt-out after the second season. Melancon got a front-loaded deal, as he'll make $34 million of his $62 million contract in the first two years when you factor in his $20 million signing bonus. It might still be unlikely that he opts out of being paid $28 million for his age 34-35 seasons, but if he remains an elite closer for the next two years it's a possibility. RotoWorld
December 5, 20169 yr WOW. it's very reasonable deal for Giants if he implement opt-out after 2 seasons.
