Miami and Atlanta end their three-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon at SunTrust Park. The Marlins blanked the Braves 5-0 in the series opener and have now won three consecutive games. Weather forecast calls for a high of 89 degrees F with a chance of thunderstorms.

 

Yelich hot to open up series

 

Miami’s offense has been on fire in their winning streak with 24 runs scored in the three-game stretch. Outfielder Christian Yelich (.273 avg) has scored five RBIs himself in the last two games, and went 3-for-5 on his at-bats in the series opener. Justin Bour hopes to keep that offensive power going as he’s gone 5-for-8 against the Braves’ hurler with two homers.

 

Starting pitcher: Right-hander Jose Urena (5-2, 3.70 ERA)

 

Urena has won four straight decisions, tallying on another one against Oakland on Tuesday. He allowed just one earned run on three hits in six innings of work. His pitching ratio has been a modest nine strikeouts to four walks in his two victories. He didn’t give up a home run for the first time in his last five starts. It hasn’t been all him on the mound as the Marlins have really been putting up the runs behind him — he’s had 41 runs of support in his last five starts alone.

 

Inconsistent Braves hope to jumpstart offense

 

Atlanta’s offense has been incredibly inconsistent over the past week. After three straight games of one-run ball against the New York Mets, they scored 29 runs against Washington. They were held to nothing in the first game of this series. Outfielder Ender Inciarte (.304 avg) recorded at least one RBI in each of the games against the Nationals and hopes to start his offense back up again over the weekend.

 

Starting pitcher: Right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (4-5, 4.37 ERA)

 

Foltynewicz had a very lucky no-decision against Washington on Monday. He allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits and lasted just 3.1 innings. He gave up three home runs after not allowing the long ball in his last three starts. Zero of his 10 outs were strikeouts. Over the past month or so, Foltynewicz has been really hit-or-miss in his outings as he didn’t give up an earned run and lasted 14 total innings in his prior two starts.
