March 23, 20197 yr Yeah he did struggle a bit this Spring. All but one of his RBI came in only two games, too [he had two 5-RBI games]. He'll be back up later. This has to open a spot for Cooper though, right?

Even though contending isn't in the plans, they want to try and build a winning atmosphere instead of keeping guys up longer than they should be. So if Brinson gets off to a bad start in April, I doubt he sticks around like he did in 2018. I think he'll be good this season though anyway.

Would love for him to have some signs of a breakout season, if not a full-on breakout this year. Like .270 with 25 home runs and 20+ steals would be tight. Of course .270 would be a MASSIVE improvement so let's set that more to like .240 for now. Just cut down on strikeouts more than anything.
March 23, 20197 yr This doesn't automatically mean Cooper. Gabriel Guerrero and Harold Ramirez still in the mix plus Ramirez can opt out so they could still keep him and just bring up Cooper later.

March 24, 20197 yr There's no question O'Brien was intended to be the opening day right fielder. Sending him down in favor of Cooper sure doesn't sound like a move made by a team that's tanking or otherwise accepting a last place finish.
