December 18, 200322 yr Lord of the Rings: Return of the King made a little over 34 million yesterday, making it the highest grossing wednesday opening ever. It also broke the December biggest opening of all-time. It came in as number 6 for the highest day of all-time, trailing Spider-man (43 mil and 39 mil), Matrix Reloaded (42 mil and 34 mil), and Harry Potter: The Chamber of Secrets (34 mil). I expect it to top 40 million atleast once this weekend. I'm gonna go see it on Tuesday and I can't wait!
