December 25, 200322 yr I don't know if anyone was watching Around the Horn, Pardon the Interruption, or SportsCenter today but the Marlins seemed to come up everywhere. Around the Horn They were dicussing Athlete of the Year and Woody Paige (my man!) brought up none other than.........Josh Beckett. Everyone else was saying Lance Armstrong and all these people and he comes out with Josh Beckett, stating his case of the 2-0 shutout vs the Yanks, Game 6. Maybe I wouldn't go as far as saying he was the athlete of the year but it's nice to know people recognize his hard work. PTI They were talking about who had the best 2003 and some of the choices were Trader Jack, Bill Parcells, Clay and Ruben, Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James, etc. Mike Wilbon put McKeon first by saying that in May, he was done with baseball and spending time with his family and then he comes back to baseball, gets critisized for being too old and wins a world series. Tony Kornheiser put McKeon at second saying Lebron had a better year because of the whole $100 million he got just in contracts alone. SportsCenter They just mentioned the Marlins as something like "how the young rose to the top and the old conquered".
December 25, 200322 yr Yeah...and I got the new ESPN the Magazine in the mail, which lists the Marlins as the #4 sports story of the year, behind (1) the Kobe Bryant scandal, (2) LeBron James, and (3)Steve Bartman.

I mean, why don't they just blame the Cubs, their own team, instead of blaming a fan who just happened to be the unlucky one to grab the ball out of the many hands in the air. I mean, it's not Bartman's fault the Cubs couldn't win one game after being up 3-1 in a series AND playing the last 2 at home with 2 of the best young pitchers in the game.

You try to hit a fly fall, pull a ball, hit a grounder, swing for power, if there were 2 outs who knows what kind of swing conine would of had. And one of the reasons why that play is so tough is because you have to catch the ball out of all the fans hands, so why is it an automatic out?? And if alou cought the ball the goat would of figured out another brilliant way to screw the cubs again :thumbup

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta! Oh, the Cubs got BEAT by the Marlins. Bartman or not, Prior didnt have to have a tantrum on the mound. Nor did Alou. Cubs AGon didnt have to boot the ball. Marlins got key hits and kept the rally going - scoring 8 runs. You mean to tell me that the Cubs barely lost that game? No, they got beat bad because of their fragile psychology and the Marlins will to win. Never quit.
