I'm assuming Kluber really wanted to play in Boston as this seems kinda low overall and aside from our shit oblivious GM I'd have thought someone else would have offered at least that or even a 2y deal. 

That's a very low risk high upside deal for them and a starter doing just a bit better than average can usually be flipped at the deadline fairly easily especially on a 1yr deal.
