January 7, 200422 yr For the third straight year, Andre Dawson missed out on getting into the Hall of Fame. He received 253 votes, which put him on 50% of the ballots, the same as last year. He needed the minimum 75% in order to get in. Another former Marlin, Jim Eisenreich, was also dropped after receiving only three votes. Meanwhile, Pinecrest resident Dennis Martinez, the winningest Latin pitcher in baseball history, has been dropped from the ballot after only receiving 16 votes in his first year.
January 7, 200422 yr What the heck are the HOF voters smoking? What does Hawk need to do to get in? He played all but 2 years in the NL despite having bad knees and Molitor spent all those years as a DH in the AL. What a crock of s@%t!!!! Don't even get me started on the Eck when there are far more worthier relievers out there not in. Sutter, Gossage, Lee Smith. Jeff Reardon who at one time was the all-time saves leader was dropped after his first year. It looks like Hawk and Ryno will suffer like Ron Santo for having played on bad Cubs teams. Better luck next year HAWK.
January 7, 200422 yr Author He's going to have to try and take advantage of a year like 2005, when only one player seems really HOF worthy (Boggs). Sandberg, his support growing, should get in next year. Dawson can do the same if he gains some additional support.
