January 15, 200422 yr Author The problem with that is that, as we all know, TV is not a "ground breaking" medium of entertainment. They always go for the well tried out stuff. The won't "risk" putting up an entire season of Football (or soccer ) if it means they "could" lose ratings... TV it's all about ratings Catch and for now the sports that give those ratings are NFL Football, Basketball and Baseball (although it declined significantly). Don't expect them to change their ways any time soon. They will never put soccer on TV as we would like it, unless they knew a lot (I mean millions) will watch. so your telling me that millons are watching the 1995 Sea Bass compettion ... i could bet you money that if they show any half way decent game it would get more ratings than the 1995 Sea Bass competition ... or whatever its on ... Latin People enjoy soccer , the'll watch whatever but they are not exploiting that ... either way if you call your self the King of sports as does ESPN ... why wouldnt they show such a huge competion as the Champions League ... that just on TV rights, teams get up to $650 million dollars
January 16, 200422 yr They do show the Euro Champions League on ESPN2. I watched some of it this autumn. I've said it before and I'll say it again. MLS should move most of its games from Saturday to Sunday. It would help their attendance figures as most amateur and youth leagues also play on Saturdays, and there is little competition on the television schedule. Only the NFL, which is monopolizing itself into prime position for MLS to sneak into the mainstream. NBC shows only golf and tennis (which draw well) but both NBC and MLS could use eachother to spice eachother up. ESPN and local sports networks, which broadcast college football all day Saturday, have an entire afternoon available.

I know they do show some games on tv .... but not enough games, they show only 1 miserable game, and its usually the same teams over and over ... either Real Madrid, AC Milan or MAN U ... no matter who they play (less competitive teams), they show those games before any other major match. on ESPN international ... they'll make the whole day a champions league game ... now thats great ... throw in a couple of nice bowls and im in heaven. oh yeah not like anyone cares but i might be getting ESPN Deportes .... ahhhh im gonna get soccer ... im gonna get soccer ... whoohoo
