Lack of command, bad coaching (infield in) and a bone headed play by hicks cost him 4 runs.Let's see if we can pull this win out.Without the infield in, that ground ball would be an inning ending double play, no idea why infield in in the first inning 0-0 ballgame, it's really stupid. May 30May 30 Worth noting the marlins have basically made Fairbanks give up his slider in favor of throwing the cutter far more frequently than anytime in his career. The cutter is a stuff + monster so I get why the nerds are telling him to do that because they love that nonsense. Just stick to what’s worked so well you’re whole career although three neither tonight and instead threw an 0-2 fastball to a guy who can’t hit breaking pitches after 2 previous fastballs.I’m really starting to think we have a pitching coach/philsophy issue
May 30May 30 The problem with pitching right now is we have guys who just aren't that good.If anything guys like Meyer, Phillips, King are overachieving. Faucher, Peterson, Junk, Paddack, Nardi are all barely replacement level players and that is being generous.Another frustrating part is we are implementing a system and being successful at it in the minors and then our approach in the big leagues is miles behind and sometimes the complete opposite. We should be moneyballing contact, not whiffing at high rates, we should be selectively aggressive on the base paths not dangerously reckless. We should be winning with defense, not putting ourselves behind the eight ball. It's a weird dynamic and something that makes you scratch your head. The good news is we have a ton of tools players that are two to three years away so, while it is beating a dead horse, we have to be patient . Yet again.

Yet again.Unrelated mostly but is there any analytical or data reason why the fish always bring the infield in early in games? That was a huge part of 1st inning blow up and isn’t first time happened this year.

This time, his 98.4 mph four-seamer found the left-handed-hitting Melendez’s wheelhouse for the game-winning two-run homer.“I wanted the same result as the [pitch] before, I just happened to not throw it in the same spot in which you can get the good result,” Fairbanks told MLB.com. “So maybe that'll be the switch we need, just no [shake-offs] the rest of the year.""So it's Fairbanks' decision to throw that fastball and not the coach and he's just regrets it? Yet again. The marlins are 29th in pitching and only better than a team that plays in coors. We were led to believe this team Is flush with pitching depth and talent before the season hence trading guys like weathers (looks great for yanks)) for future pieces. I agree some bad stinky eggs pitching, but there’s talent there and my view this is a system wide pitching approach thing. The fact the they’re also one of worst defensive teams in league doesn’t help the pitching either to you’re point
