Posted January 16, 200421 yr Suck My **** Jecoby and Myers Lawyers suck. I hate it when somebody can sue for just about anything. First it was a hot cup of coffee at a McDonalds and now that every cup has a "hot" label on it, someone is suing Starbucks for...hot coffee. Someone sued a petroleum jelly manufacturer, because she thought eating it on toast would prevent pregnacy, and guess what it didn't. Now all over cars there are stickers and tags all over the place telling us the dangers of airbags and seatbelts, because people sued the automotive manufacturers. Another thing I cannot stand is that everything is in Spanish and French, because people will claim "I didn't know how to give my kid Tyenol, because it was not in English!" Well too bad, English is the majority language in this country and if we make it that one minority language must be on everything, it is an act of prejudice not to include practically every other minority language spoken in this country. Do I really care if Spanish is on the label? Not really, but I do mind when people are really stupid and sue companies over the difference in language. How can you award a Spanish speaking person in court, but not someone who speaks and reads Arabic who could sue for the same reason? It is not right. And why is French in everything? Is their a huge French part of our society I am not aware of? However, thanks to stupid parents that do not know any better, companies are liable for their stupidity. Do society a favor, please! If you have no common sense, don't have children. It is the parent's responsibility to take care of their children properly, my car should not be scarred, because they are incompetent and want a quick buck. This reminds me of September 11th. That day was very dark and we all felt for the victims (besides the jerks who side with the terrorists), but because the terrorists happened to hijack planes, the airline companies are "liable" and so lawyers wanted to sue the airlines. So what did the government do? They paid off the families not to sue. How can one take money in exchange for a true loved one? They are just selfish. There, I said it. No one, especially the struggling airline industry, wanted September 11th to happen. What are we going to sue the airlines for, the bad luck they experienced? They didn't want terrorists flying in their "friendly air." Of course, some people still plan on suing- the families might as well break into some Arab guy's house and steal his stuff, because who knows, he might be remotely connected with the attacks. It is insane. Our medical costs, government, products, and services are all more expensive because of lawyers, because there is nothing they won't sue about. I have a question for you lawsuit happy people. Would you stick up a 7-11? Would you rob an old decrepid woman? Then how is it okay to rob a faceless corporation or company? It is still stealing. Don't tell me it is, because "corporations are evil" or some crap. Stealing one of O.J.'s Buffalo Bills jerseies is still stealing too. Would you break into his house and steal it? What if you knew that you would not be caught and it would take no effort? Would you do it if Jecoby and Myers did all the dirty work? No. It is just as wrong to be part of senseless lawsuits so you can get quick money when the company settles out of court. The insanity has to stop. Well, it does not have to. Our country could just decline into decadence in a slow but sure manner, so rather the insanity should stop. The lawsuits I am speaking of are immoral. People have to learn to take responsibility for their own actions, and if they get bad luck, well tough luck.
January 16, 200421 yr agreed. at some point the government must put a muffle on this fundamental right to sue. it hurts society more than it helps it.
January 16, 200421 yr Explain to me again, how all of that had to do with why "lawyers suck" ? the select lawyers who perpetuate the needless lawsuits suck. they're immoral, opportunistic leeches.
January 16, 200421 yr agreed. at some point the government must put a muffle on this fundamental right to sue. it hurts society more than it helps it. I believe, if our government puts a "muffle" on some of our Fundamental Rights now, they'll use that as a precedent in the long run to take away other Fundamental Rights that might actually be important to us. I believe it's a domino effect. once one thing is taken away, they use it as a basis to take more and more away... Soriano, did you get this from Maddox again?
January 16, 200421 yr we elect our leaders to represent us. furthermore, true fundamental rights are protected by the US constitution. stopping frivolous lawsuits does not open the door to taking away true "fundamental" rights. if panels can be put in place to throw out meritless lawsuits before they can be heard, i'm all for it. it'll save our legal system, our businesses, our doctors, our hospitals, our insurance companies, our economy, and ultimately the PEOPLE billions of dollars each year.
January 16, 200421 yr I've said it many time before and I'' say it again, "Welcome to the American Legal System." Its the people who sue who should be blamed. There are valid suits and considering both my parents are lawyers, I know of this. Hell, I've been to depots with bogus suits and the stuff is so outrageuosly stupid. There are bad lawyers that take advantage but still... The government shouldn't limit our fundamental rights, they need to limit the suits in terms of money toward a group of people instead of one person...
January 16, 200421 yr The government shouldn't limit our fundamental rights, they need to limit the suits in terms of money toward a group of people instead of one person... if you're supporting caps on certain types of civil claims, i will have to agree with you completely. the benefits to our society would be incredible.

They already have limited the money for single doctors in Florida but now they just put it as a group of doctors and still get the same money... It kinda pisses you off don't it... :angry
January 16, 200421 yr we elect our leaders to represent us. furthermore, true fundamental rights are protected by the US constitution. stopping frivolous lawsuits does not open the door to taking away true "fundamental" rights. A lot of people take our Constitution and our rights for granted. Of course stopping these lawsuits wont lead directly to the taking away or fundamental rights, and I do believe, our true fundamental rights, as do most people, will never be taken away. However they have been and will continue to be infringed upon if we start fighting to take away or limiting "frivolous" lawsuits. Of course with the Bush Administration in the White House , and the government nowadays you cant take anything for granted, little by little our first amendment rights are being limited greatly, and if thats happening, who knows what will happen next...
January 16, 200421 yr Author I believe, if our government puts a "muffle" on some of our Fundamental Rights now, they'll use that as a precedent in the long run to take away other Fundamental Rights that might actually be important to us. I believe it's a domino effect. once one thing is taken away, they use it as a basis to take more and more away... Soriano, did you get this from Maddox again? 1. "Oppurtunistic leech" lawyers blow: the guys you see on TV. 2. My rights are infringed when I can't afford healthcare or my car looks like crap, or everything I buy costs more. 3. I get nothing from Maddox, why are you listening to Pubes? I got inspiration to write this after observing warning stickers in a minivan. Maddox mostly yells at people like Christopher Reeve and makes hilarious pictures. I write mostly social commentaries. I'll take it as a compliment if my work is compared to Maddox's. He never wrote of this subject or many of the subjects I talked about. If I am being accused of stealing anything from him when I am not, that's a testament to my work. Thank you.

There are bad lawyers that take advantage but still... The government shouldn't limit our fundamental rights, they need to limit the suits in terms of money toward a group of people instead of one person... There are good lawyers, like my Dad's friend Joe. But the ones the advertise and chase ambulences looking for trouble are a scourge in our society. I never advocate a change in law, I advocate a change in society's hypocritical ways (thus the comparing robbing a seven eleven to a law suit.) And how about those cigarette lawsuits? Simply absurd. That's so hilarious I will probably write something on that later whenever it pops back in my head...or maybe I will "steal it from maddox."
January 16, 200421 yr They already have limited the money for single doctors in Florida but now they just put it as a group of doctors and still get the same money... It kinda pisses you off don't it... :angry a $500,000 cap on noneconomic damages that can be exceeded by millions in the "most serious circumstances" is NOT a "limit" in any sense. for all intents and purposes, there is no cap in the state of florida and i have no plans on practicing here after i'm done training if i can't make an acceptable living. basically, the florida bar association holds the florida legislature by the testicles. this is one of the most litigation-friendly states in the entire country. but yes, suing everyone who is even remotely associated with one patient is ridiculous and is nothing more than a winning lottery ticket for a "victim"'s family. it makes you wonder how many of these people have morals.
