January 19, 200422 yr 3rd - Conine 4th - Cabs 5th - Lowell that would be ideal we need a bigger RBI man at the 3rd spot than conine- Lowell or Miggy would be best
January 19, 200422 yr I would put the 3-5 spots in this order. 3rd - Cabs - able to spray ball around, move runners 4th - Mikey - power will return next season 5th - Conine - enough of a threat to make teams pitch to Lowell But I will be happy with whatever McKeon decides to do. :thumbup
January 19, 200422 yr Remember one of the nicknames for cabs last year was kkkabrera, he does strikeout alot sometimes, i think 4th or 5th is better for him than 3rd...
January 19, 200422 yr But his main nickname was Superman because he came through in the clutch, and he'll get better shots at that hitting third immediately behind the Wonder Twins.
January 19, 200422 yr Agreed that Cabrera started off slow, but he had a great September and October, and became much more patient at the plate. Recall that at-bat against Clemens that he took deep. Cabs is going to hit at or above .300 this year, and with his ability to hit to the opposite field late in the count, is better hitting 3rd.
January 19, 200422 yr we need a bigger RBI man at the 3rd spot than conine- Lowell or Miggy would be best Conine is an RBI machine .... i just dont like the idea of Cabs hitting 3rd, i dont want the kid to become too cocky and get lazy, with Conine 3rd (who will drive in a good 110+ ) than Lowell 4th (meaning he'll see more pitches, not to many people would wanna face Cabs) and 5th in Cabrera since he does tend to strike out quite often, and i just dont wanna hand him the preasure of hitting 3rd since opening day and than fear a large slump cuz of it.
January 19, 200422 yr If the kid is going to get cocky, he already is cocky. I mean, he was hitting cleanup in the World Series as a 20 year old rookie. What more of an excuse for cocky do you need?
January 19, 200422 yr Cabrera lazy and cocky? Not a chance. the kid has excelled at every challenge sent his way. He will do great hitting 3rd, or anywhere else McKeon puts him.
January 20, 200422 yr we need a bigger RBI man at the 3rd spot than conine- Lowell or Miggy would be best Conine is an RBI machine .... i just dont like the idea of Cabs hitting 3rd, i dont want the kid to become too cocky and get lazy, with Conine 3rd (who will drive in a good 110+ ) than Lowell 4th (meaning he'll see more pitches, not to many people would wanna face Cabs) and 5th in Cabrera since he does tend to strike out quite often, and i just dont wanna hand him the preasure of hitting 3rd since opening day and than fear a large slump cuz of it. Agreed. Conine should bat 3rd. He's the only one we have that excells at drawing walks and contact, power and situational hitting. That's what you want out of a #3. Someone that can work with your 1-2 to manufacture runs. Someone that tires a pitcher. Someone that will avoid that 3rd out to bring up Miggy/Lowell.
