Greetings from White Sox Country

Featured Replies

Greetings, friends! I know we White Sox fans have not hung around here too much since the Marlins beat the Cubs and Yankees, doing us White Sox fans a huge favor. However, I just wanted to let you know that you are still very much in our minds. On our own message board this week, we continued to add posts to the official NLCS game threads for Game 6 and Game 7 when you provided us great joy.

Obviously, we have had our own problems to deal with in the offseason as you have. While the Cubs' Jim Hendry has done a ton of work to upgrade his team (giving credit where credit is due), our team hasn't done crap. As a result, a lot of White Sox fans (myself included) have become generally demoralized. I know you have lost some key players as well, and I am sure is has been very frustrating. However, we are all in this together.

I am looking forward to our meeting in June during interleague play. I would like very much to travel to South Florida for the series, but I am afraid real life logistics will not make that possible. Hopefully, the White Sox fans who do come to South Florida for the series will express their great appreciation to you for putting smiles on our faces in October.

Good luck in 2004!

The White Sox fans should not look at the Cubs moves as being the greatest things on Earth, they are not that great and you are letting yourselves be affected by the Cubbie Tribune. *slaps sox fans* Get a hold of yourselves, magic can happen. Don't give up! You still have hope. When does Frank and the gang come to Florida? Even if all does go bad, you can "always put on the board..........YESSSSSSSSSS!" that the Cubs will choke

I'm pretty sure the Cubs will choke, I'm not too worried about that, as many other sox fans aren't.

The 2 things we are worried about are this:

1. The Cubs are in the race late in the season (which they almost guaranteed will be). As long as the Cubs are even IN the race late in the year, the media up here will have a lovefest and spread their legs for the cubbies, and it is simply sickening.

The second and most important thing we are worried about:

2. The fact that our team, the White Sox, have gotten significantly worse in the offseason. This is not a team that can make the playoffs, and it's sad because 1st of all, this division is VERY winnable if only we spent money, and we AREN'T spending money even though we are the only big market team in this division.

Those are the problem I have with this offseason here in Chicago, and i'm pretty sure most sox fans would agree with my sentiments.

You've got no worries. Ozzie will fire up the club and get every ounce of potential out of those guys. Best of luck!

I'll be living in Chicago coming this summer - and I may be in the market for a 2nd favorite team. I can say this - like Capefish said - dont worry about the Cubs. They HAD to upgrade their team immensley in order to beat teams like us this coming year. But not so fast, they didnt iimprove all that much in my opinion. LaTroy Hawkins is a good reliever, but it is different when you have to win with the game on the line. He wasnt the go-to guy in Minnesota, remember. (recipe for choking...) Also, Derek Lee is a good 1B, but he doesnt perform very well in pressure situations (and I think they were very impatient with Choi who is going to blossom - thanks Cubs!). Todd Walker? Please...Grudzelaniek part 2.

You Sox have a lot to look forward too. Be patient. Ozzie is going to have your fan base and team charged. (I am surprised that the White Sox havent made a play for Fudge. With Oz there, it could happen.)
