February 2, 200422 yr World To Drown In Global Ice Cap Meltage Before: 1900 After: Year 2100 In 96 years the world is going to look like this: Evidence supporting "global warming" is well established, right? I mean, all 130 years of measured data, a mere fraction of a microsecond in geological time, leads me to believe the world is most definitely coming to an end. Come on, how can you contest all the "evidence", right? This graph to the right shows the supposed increase in Earth temperature since 1880. Judging from this, the world is most definitely getting hotter, right? Well, most of the time temperature recordings are taken in cities and or airports. These areas are void of plant life and are surrounded by concrete, creating a heat island effect. Furthermore, when thermometers get surrounded by more and more asphalt, tar, and tall buildings and there's less and less vegetation, which traps less heat and actually through evaporation of dew decreases the surrounding temperture, you measure a hotter and hotter temperature. Above is a graph that shows tropospheric temperature, which is independent of surface temperature because it is assessed from satellites that measure the temperature of the Earth five miles down. Again, increase is minimal, and no more than 4 years aho the was colder than it was in 1979. Furthermore, an increase or decrease of 0.2 celsius is extremely minimal. Above shows estimated world temperature over the last 3,000 years. The world is colder now than it was 3,000 years ago. Using the logc of pro-global warming advocates, this is enough evidence to allows us to make the assumption that we are heading towards another ice age. But this is ridiculous. A hundred years is not enough evidence to allow us to determine there's a long term warming trend, and neither is 3,000 adequate to determine a long term cooling trend. Let me be honest. The Vikings farmed on Greenland hundreds of years ago. Now, Greenland is an ice box and farming would not be possible, so evidently that part of the world is colder now then it was then. The Ozone hole is shrinking yet temperature is technically increasing. Polar ice caps are melting, but they have been receding since the ice age melted. True recorded recession of glaciers has been occurring before the industrial revolution, before man's CO2 emissions "started to affect the climate." The oceans release tons of methane gas, far more damaging to the atmosphere than we can release. Lastly, one of the largest increases in CO2 gas emission in history between the years 1940 to 1970 was an era of COOLING, not warming. People love to tell us how much polar ice caps are thinning, but they do not like to tell us many are thickening. There is no global warming. Quite simply there is not enough evidence, too much contradicting evidence of the little that exists, and if anything the world is cooler now than what it was. So believe we are going to drown in global ice meltage, believe the worse for no reason. Sure, pollution is never good. It has other negative effects, but we cannot allow lies to lead us to hasty policy decisions. The Kyoto Treaty forces countries to become more reliant on diesel fuel, and when diesel is used as a fuel, it releases less CO2, but more soot. So in fact, the Kyoto Treaty not only is hurting the world's economies, but also the environment. Unless alternative fuel sources are used, using what is available now leads to worse effects. Global warming is a fraud, just like the miracle thaw. Stuff is supposed to melt, but it really doesn't. I guess nothing is the same as advertised. http://www.xanga.com/craigramblings
February 3, 200422 yr Its not an outright lie but the world at the moment is in a warming cycle. It happens.
February 3, 200422 yr Author That's even debatable. Why is the ice in antarctica becoming thicker and as a whole antarctica is colder now than 30 years ago?
February 3, 200422 yr Global warming is only an issue because some people have nothing better to do with their lives then to overanalyze.
February 4, 200422 yr Author hasnt this already been discussed about a month ago? Yeah, but I have some snazzy graphs this time to prove my point. IT'S NOT REAL.
February 4, 200422 yr the discrepancy between surface temperature measurements and troposphere (lower level of the atmosphere) temperature measurements taken from space satellites doesn't prove that surface temperature measurements are inaccurate. the satellite readings are due to a number of things, including improper measurement, volcano eruptions, and the thinning ozone layer, to name a few. the fact that the earth's temperature has been increasing for the past century is irrefutable, and the readings are consistent both in urban areas and non-urban areas. disputing modern temperature measurement techniques isn't exactly the best argument against global warming. we have significantly altered the composition of our atmosphere over the past 100 years, and we have greatly increased the proportion of greenhouse gases. that much is fact. also, i'm pretty sure global temperatures haven't risen at this rate since that medieval spike. of course i don't have any stats, figures, or links on hand to back any of this up, so i could very well be off somewhere. i'll come up with a real argument for you after my derm exam on thursday, so you'll have to wait a few days before i thrash you for hating the earth. in any case, at this point i think it's impossible to prove whether global warming is real or not.
February 4, 200422 yr Author Right now the ozone layer is thicker, CFCs and methane released naturally far outweigh man's output, "significant" temperature rise started occurring before the industrial revolution (if we go by land based temperatures), but most importantly, even if the word was getting warmer, that does not prove mans involvement. The measurements have been taken for too short a time span to come up with such a conclusion.
February 7, 200422 yr Global warming is nothing more than a bunch of suits running around like Chicken Little screaming that the sky is falling. Period. These guys are idiots. They can all go warm themselves in the fiery pits of hell. :thumbup :thumbup
February 7, 200422 yr I just read an article recently saying that the ozone hole in the south pole was actually shrinking, and they had satellite imagery to back it up. They also stated that at this rate, the hole would close in about 5-10 years.
February 7, 200422 yr Author in the 70s scientists were convinced the earth was the shape of a pear and another ice age was coming. eggheads.
