February 10, 200422 yr My brother is currently selling his car, and looking to buy another at the same time. We're selling his 1992 BMW 318i convertable for $7,500 or best offer, so we're obviously over pricing it and willing to work down, no lower than $6,500. We use the great things abou the car to pedal to the people, but you must mention some of the bad things to seem genuine and trust worthy at the same time. We're planning on buying a 1963-1967 Lincoln Continental, and have already found three. The one owner we talked to was selling his for $7,600, which is a larger over-price than ours. My dad took a look at it and picked the car apart piece by piece to lower the value, and offered the man a trade of the BMW, an easier car to sell and virtually of equal value. He basically declined (although he has not officially said so), obviously believing that the car is worth more than it is. I would say that in selling a car, it depends on the car. if it's an older model, used and not in the best condition, put the price higher than it's worth and let the consumer negotiate down. But make sure to have a set price that you know you will NOT go any lower than. In buying a car, look a it and try to find anything wrong with it you can, whether it is very minor or very major. If you already like the price they are offering to deal it for, try not to allienate them and lower it too much. But if it is way too high for your liking, bring it down past what they'll accept, so it ends up right in-between both of your offers.
February 10, 200422 yr I generally just cheat to get my way. :thumbup :lol :lol It's funny cuz it's true
