Gained ground on the Nats and Mets this past series. The Cards gained a game on us by pulling tonight's game out of their ass. Salty about the Padres letting that 5-1 8th inning lead disappear.

It's his throw day, or whatever you want to call it. Just gettin his work in probably. I have to watch on gamecast so that's my best guess with the info I have available.

Let Dunn close out the last inning so we have an excuse not to see his ass anywhere near the mound this weekend

I think that start by Urena sent a message to Koehler that if he doesn't get his shiz together that he may be the odd man out. Chen isn't going anywhere with that salary but Koehler might have seen his ass in the pen with another poor start tonight. Great job by him but he needs to continue this for the rest of the season.

Imagine a complete game by Koehler...probably won't happen but it would mean our key bullpen guys will all have 2+ days of rest going into the Mets series. That means we can ride our 6-9 inning guys and only need a solid 5 innings from the starters.

Why can't we hit worth a shit this series? There's no way in hell we are pulling any late inning heroics tonight. If Chen gives up on more they should just ride him the rest of the game and blow his arm out so he can't pitch for us again.

Goeddel was 1 for his last 26 ABs and 0/16 coming into this game, yet he is single handedly destroying Chen. Disgusted.

Ballgame!!!! Would have been nice if the Cubs pushed through a few runs against the Muts but it makes this win all the better. With Pittsburgh, LAD, and NYM all winning this was a great win. Our AAA pitcher against their ace and we come away with the WIN. Ugly wins count the same in the standings. Our bullpen (minus Dunn--even though he did well tonight) is LIGHTS OUT. The entire strategy of this team should rely on having our 3-5 pitchers to just give us 5 strong and let the pen take care of the rest...ala the Royals these past two years. Next year with Capps back we will be even better (as long as they find a LHP upgrade from Dunn). Phelps-Claw-Capps-Rodney-Ramos....wow. i reposted this from the game thread...i was a little late.

Lucky to get out of that one. I know Barraclough isn't available tonight, but does anyone else think he should be our 7th inning guy instead of Phelps? Bear-Rodney-Ramos? Phelps seems to have lost a step since tearing it up the first 1/3 of the season. At the same time, however, I think Bear should be used when there are men on base in high leverage situations (where one run may be the difference), regardless if its the 5th, 6th, or 7th inning...He is a luxury to have in the pen with his high K numbers.

Oh i remember those days fondly. I'm just saying you rarely see a manager get in the face of a player for playing poorly. When there is confrontation, it is usually about laziness or not having your head in the game...i.e. Not running out a grounder or not hitting the cut-off man.

One front-line SP away from WS contention but because of our unimpressive farm we have no chance to get anyone worthy. Best everyday line-up in mlb and we can't get anywhere because of the garbage we put on the mound 60% of the time. Sickening.

Why can't mattingly get in TKs face and demand more from him? Baseball is the only sport where you don't see this happen. It is infuriating watching TK trot out there every five days with the SAME result every fucking time. Walk walk hit hit walk walk hit hit It never fucking ends!!!!
