Interesting conversation by Thorne on ESPN
SoFo politicians and or private investors better get the lead out. I don?t want them to leave SoFo, but for the Marlins Orlando is not a bad idea. They could probably draw 10-15k (if not more) a night just in tourists, then you have local fans from the Orlando metropolitan area ? which reaches over to Daytona. Then add in central and north ?rual? Florida ? Ocala, Gainesville,? I would be amazed if the Marlins are not talking to Disney!

You?re an exception. If there were 60,000 people just like you ? and me - in south Florida we would not be having this discussion. There just are not enough of us (now) to fill a stadium. Filling a stadium is about making it attractive to the casual fan. You right to a degree ? and you know what it?s like down here, its one big metropolitan area. Site selection shouldn?t be about the imaginary lines that separate Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. Is should be about picking the best long term solution for the Fish. Because the Miami-Dade politicians have the money, Miami-Dade is the best site for the Miami-Dade politicians ? is it the best site for the Marlins? For what It?s worth the Dolphin Mall, PPS (area), or the Sawgrass would be just fine with me. But I think downtown Miami or the OB will be a fiasco (without major transportation upgrades).- New deadline - May 1st
If the Dolphin Mall is OK what?s wrong with the Sawgrass/Office Depot area. Which leads to another questions. Maybe I haven't been paying attention but where are the Broward politicians on this issue.- Where do you want the stadium? Round 1
Explain how PPS is any more convenient to the Broward fan than it is the Miami Fan ? Both comminutes share equally in any blame for the lack of attendance. Besides that the Marlins organization is as much to blame as anyone. First, Huizenga destroys the product, and for a couple years the Marlins are barely a step above a triple A team. They have had a decent product for the last 3-4 years but they expect the stadium to just fill up on it?s own. They need to be more proactive. I went to an Atlanta game a couple years ago and the parking lot was full of charter busses. What Atlanta was doing was giving great ticket deals to every civic club, church group, and square dance club within 200 miles of the stadium. I have never seen more than one or two busses at PPS. Even with a great product they have to do more than give away floppy hats to fill the stadium. Regarding the location, fact is everybody wants the new location to be convenient to them. That?s impossible. What is the best location for the fish?. Which means what location will attract the biggest fan base. The new site needs to have easy access ? which leaves out downtown Miami and the OB. And it should be convenient to populations centers with expendable in-come. That narrows it down. Of course, it will also make it close to were I live ; ) . LETS GO MARLINS- My Tix came today
That?s great ? I called yesterday and they said I would not get mine until next week. Where are your seats? - New deadline - May 1st
