1. This piped in crowd noise is over the top ridiculous. There are European soccer matches that aren’t this loud.
2. That's Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. AAA The Barclays Center in Brooklyn The spaceship look is somewhat unique in baseball, but it looks like Marlins Park looks like it is just a larger basketball/hockey arena.
3. It may look different than the "old timey" ball parks on the outside, but it looks exactly like every basketball/hockey arena and many office parks that have been built in the last 20 years, and more specifically it looks like a complete knockoff of the AAA downtown.
4. I don't "love" the sculpture, and its removal is not something I'd actively complain about, but there are certainly some arguments for keeping it. I don't live in Miami any more, but when I visit and go to a game, the sculpture's kitschiness really helps bring home the fact that I am in Miami. Also, without the sculpture, Marlins Park may well be the most generic, boring, uninteresting stadium in professional sports. That stadium has absolutely zero character aside from the sculpture.
5. The plan is very clear to anyone watching: slash payroll, milk revenue sharing for as long as the league allows, then cash out.
6. No. Didn’t get enough in return in the trades, don’t have enough left to trade, don’t have a competent enough FO at drafting to make that happen.
7. A lease does not stop a business from going out of business. If it did, shopping malls would be thriving. The Marlins have succeeded in killing off most of the last group of people who give a shit. The stadium will be even more empty than it has been and this cash poor group will either have to move or shut it down. The lease is a real obstacle to moving, but shutting it down is a very real possibility.
8. Yes, the lease is an issue, hence the very real possibility this franchise gets contracted. This is a cash poor ownership group that just alienated most of the few remaining Marlins fans and made the team a 100+ game loser without even rebuilding the farm in so doing. There will be little league baseball games in South Florida with better attendance than the Marlins will have for the next several years. The cash poor ownership group will claim they are trying to get better but can’t because nobody buys tickets and the franchise’s death spiral will culminate in a push for relocation that either succeeds or results in contraction due to the lack of financial viability.
9. I wouldn’t necessarily hate the rebuild if we actually got promising prospects. Instead, we got other farms’ garbage.
10. The Marlins are far more likely to be contracted or relocated in 5 years than make the playoffs.
