ok so seriously.....
I do have a question actually... What was the transition like for you, and do you take the trade personal? Remember that you can be absolutely honest on this message board. It's a safe haven for you, bud! i didn't take this trade as personal as i did the previous one to the marlins organization when i thought the cubs just didn't want me. although it did come as a shock to me, it didn't hit me as hard as before. once again i had to make new friends and get accustomed to the new organization (rules, signs, getting to know the staff, etc.), but that was easy. baseball is baseball no matter where you go. Good to hear from ya Jorg. Sounds like things are going well in Louisville How's your season coming along? Are you playing well? i would like to think i'm at the top of my game right now. defense is very strong and hitting is more comfortable to me this year. my main goal this year is to keep my BB / K ratio very close, if not a very low amount of K's, and of course have a decent average.

ok so seriously.....
who miss me ?? haha. j/k. figured i'd post this in this forum since it's frequented the most. i'm out in virginia beach, VA hangin out with my boy (my old college roomie) from the other team. we had an off day today so instead of traveling back with my team to louisville, i stayed in town a few extra nights to visit and have fun here. i've been enjoying my new team and friends here this season. we've been turning things around since we started out with a losing record and have been playing "lights-out" baseball. the IL is a much better league than the PCL i think - at least the travel is a lot easier. my town of louisville is great. we get about the same - if not bigger - crowd than that of albuquerque. i still talk to some of the guys from the team. usually it's aguila or treaner, and then of course some of the fellas down in the "kirk". called "moose" (fulchino) today since i saw he got the promotion, and was glad to see treanor finally got one out of the yard - was actually watching that game on tv too. anyways, i'm still around if anyone's got some questions. i'll be more than glad to answer them when i can. holla !!

Jorg sent down
Sorry to hear that. Are you now out of options? Or can they send you down next year as well? i don't have any options this year since i'm not on the roster. but i did use one option last year when they sent me down, so i have 2 left once i make it back on that roster

Jorg sent down

i didn't realize how long overdue i was in writing an entry. these last few days have been sort of a weird schedule. an off day on monday was too boring. it's weird having an off day when you've adjusted your schedule. i still wake up at 7 am no matter what time we have to be at the park. that's why these night games have been kind of weird also. wake up at 7, and sit around until 2 until it's time to head to the park. plus i'm usually in bed by the time the night games end (10 / 10:30). our trip to vero was succesful as everyone saw. d-train threw exceptionally well. cruz jr. was able to get ahold of a low fastball or slider that he yanked out to left center. other than that he kept the ball down in the zone, pounded the fastball inside which is a necessity. you start leavin the ball over the plate and letting hitters get their arms extended and bad things will happen - as you saw with lowe pitching. our lineup tore him up when he left the ball out over the plate, but when he was able to keep his sinker and slider down in the zone, he was effective. it's a race down to the last week for the final spots on the roster. definitely not an easy decision for joe on who to keep in some spots. i'm gonna shower up and head to the field. we're goin down to ft. lauderdale today. holly what do you mean i'm never around for pictures. i'm always there, you just don't love me anymore :boo-woo

Good to hear from you again Jorg, am looking forward to the game today, first televised game of the year. Pretty dull question, but how do you find the day to day grind of catching, do you feel the wear and tear a lot, and does it tire you down the stretch? Cheers. of course you feel the wear and tear, especially if you're an everyday catcher. i'm not sure how the posada's and schneider's manager to do it and still put up great numbers at the plate. it'll really start to wear you out once the summer heat really kicks in Jorg, You mentioned pay day is Friday. I suppose that is every Friday? Is there a change in pay for guys who are sent down? Just curious. yup during spring training every friday is payday. and yes, there's a change. Serious question--Inevitably, baseball ends for the majority of players (those who don't go on to coach, broadcast, etc). What is next for Ryan Jorgensen? Or is it too early to even know? too early to think about really. I have two questions for you... What do you enjoy most about being a baseball player? Do people often recognize you when you go out? Like... Oh that is Ryan Jorgensen. 1. it's fun. get paid to play a game you played when you were a child. always a change in the game. yeah it's groundhog day during the season (same routine daily), but it's never the same game twice. 2. not yet they don't but they soon will. watch out !! Jorg Do chicks really dig the long ball? you bet they do Jorg, Do players in the minor league camp have a separate clubhouse? Or is everyone mixed together? they are in the same building, but they aren't in the same clubhouse. there is a separate one for that. when you get moved down of course you switch locker rooms. the jupiter hammerheads also use the big league locker room (has about 70 lockers, even though they use 25 / 30, so they'll be spread out) during the season and the gulf coast / rehab uses the other locker room.

been a few days. hope everyone hasn't missed me too much. i actually just woke up and am about to head to the field here shortly. even though we have a later arrival time (10:15 as opposed to the ususal 9:30) i'm still going to go in and get a warm-up workout in. plus i get bored being around the house sometimes. long trip over to the west coast yesterday, but at least we came from behind with a tie. JJ looked strong at first, but began to tire later. as the numbers showed, he started leaving the ball up and got hit around a little bit. of course had there not been one error in the 2nd, hopefully only one of those runs would have scored. he left the ball up to youkilis and he smashed it into the monster behind the centerfield wall for a 3 run dinger. stokes was back in the lineup as DH after resting his groin for a few days. my roomie (aguila) went deep. i missed it though because i was down in the bullpen warming up herges. wish i could have seen it because he was hitting some massive bombs during batting practice. after a somewhat slow and frustrating start for him, his bat is starting to come around. tank looked impressive on the mound. i'm sure he was pretty stoked that he struck out manny ramirez too. i know i would be. big game against the yankees today at the park. definitely going to be a sellout crowd. hope everyone had a good st. patties day. i know i was too tired to go out and have at least 1 green beer last night. 3 hour bus ride, game, and 3 hours back seem to take a toll on you. more cuts to come today i'm sure since yesterday was friday (payday). that's usually the day that they send people down.

Question for you, who is the most hardcore nutrionist on the team? What does he eat for breakfast? hmm...most people would probably say me. i'm usually the one eating the egg whites, oatmeal, banana. every now and then i'll splurge on some eggo waffles or french toast. lately everyone's been eating what i call the cepicky sandwich - basically a homemade egg mcmuffin with ham, like the kind you'd buy from mcdonalds. some people use bagels. they're quite tasty. and then again there's the supplements i've got in my locker. a huge 10 pound bag of whey protein that everyone calls dog food. some dextrose and maltodextrin. some r-ala and taurine pills. don't worry, all legal stuff approved by the FDA and MLB for use. during the off-season i'm big into body-building stuff, or body sculpting workouts as i like to call them. Also, don't know if this has been asked before--but who do you hang out with most on the team? well i live with chris aguila right now, so i guess you could say we hang out a lot. we'll go out to eat if we don't feel like cooking dinner. but tonight, we're grilling up a pork tenderloin and some thin sliced chicken breasts. along with a salad, baked potato, and green beans, i'll make one heck of a meal. last year i was closer with matt padgett and josh wilson (both my roommates) but they're no longer with us, so i've got to find someone new.

Do you have MLB 2K6? If so, does it feel weird, yet awesome, that you're in a video game? no i dont' have it. i might have to purchase it though to check it out. I know you remember every at bat you had in the majors last year. Who did you face each time...And on a related note, what pitch do you, as a hitter, hate the most? of course i remember my 4 at-bats. the first 3 were against byung yung kim (sp?). along with being nervous and facing someone throwing submarine, i was prettty much out before i went to the plate. hardest pitch to hit would be either a knuckle or a good cutter. Hey Jorg, Good to hear from you again, I really enjoy your journals. A couple of quick questions, are you going to be catching on Tue against Wash or on Thur against Dodgers. I'll be at those games and I'm looking forward to seeing all the new players. Also any idea whose throwing those days? Thanks and keep up the great insight with your journals. i'll be catching today (tuesday) up in melbourne vs. the nats. I am not sure if this was asked before. What do you enjoy doing on your free time? I just recently read that you lived in a condo. Does most of the team (Ones who don't live down here) live in certain community or do they live anywhere they want? (I have always wondered this) the team will put us up in a hotel and if you decide to live out they will give you some money to live out. usually not enough to cover the rent (especially down here in south florida where it's so expensive during prime season). my free time i like to play video games, hang out on the computer, work out, relax with friends and do whatever. not really outdoorsman like stokes, so i don't hunt or fish or things along those lines.

Jorg, as a hitter, do you think that the dimensions of a ballpark can psychologically affect the way you hit? Are you intimidated by so-called 'pitcher's parks', or do you approach all parks the same way? (Sorry I'm in a rush, I may not have explained my question that well!) don't worry, i understand what you mean. sometimes the way a park looks can be intimidating towards a hitter. but then again, if you're not a homerun hitter (like myself), then why try to hit a homerun ??? your approach has to be the same, just whatever happens after you hit the ball happens. ideally you would like to hit line drives all over the place, but in a game of inches (realistically smaller than that), that doesn't always happen

ah a disappointing loss to the O's. one bad play and things went downhill after that. despite the numbers, moehler actually threw 3 good innings. after an error he got hit around a little but, but the umpire wasn't the best at the strike judgement behind the dish, and moehler was pitching very well. one play can change a game. they ended up scoring 4 runs after a misplay at SS - shadez nation don't worry, wasn't your boy. i even got in the game today to play first base. was more nervous about getting a ground ball than anything, but i thought i did fine. other than that one inning where things seemed to snowball, we pitched a decent game. offense struggled as there weren't too many hard hit balls today. but sometimes you just have those days. split-squad road trip for me tomorrow. wish i could have stayed here and watched or maybe hit against billy traber. he used to play with the indians and i lived with him during the off-season between '04-'05 in baton rouge with another indian brian tallet. Jorg, do you get star struck when you see celebrity players from other teams in person, or are you used to it by now? Also, how fast can you throw? (random question, but I'm curious!) somewhat. i won't lie - i like to get autographs. i was ecstatic 2 years ago when we went up to kissimmee to play the astros - my hometown team. how fast ?? not sure. mid 80s hopefully ? but throwing people out at second is all about having quick feet and a quick release Jorg, I remember hearing that last year the Marlins would use the Miami Heat's private jet when flying to road games. Is this true and what's it like? it's nice. first class leather seats all the way through, 2 on each side. tables in the back. full staff of flight attendants. we got a meal on the plane - something decent too, not the regular commercial flying food, more like first class stuff. it's a nice change from AAA because you check in and walk right up to the plane. don't have to worry about waiting at a gate, arrving early just so you don't miss the flight, etc.

Jorg, do you think that the bullpen will sort itself out in the end??? of course it will. just give it time. it's still early in the spring Jorg....what do you think about Stokes playing in left field?? Is it that realistic?? could be a possibility. he was almost switched there when he first signed since they had Adrian Gonzales also and what do you think of LSU's draw against Iona and then Cuse/A&M? sounds like it's gonna be a tough game(s), huh ? haha.. geaux tigers

well it's sunday night and i'm about to head to bed. just thought i'd write a quick write up before then (as i'm watching What Lies Beneath). as you saw we got back on track today and won. winning is fun isn't it ?? johnson had another fine outing, only getting in trouble 1 time with men on first and second. the shadez nation should be proud of their boy goin deep twice - big bombs too. yesterday wasn't the greatest of days that a few of our pitchers had. struggling with control bowyer got hit around once the ball was in the strike zone - all with 2 outs. ok i'm struggling for things to write right now cause i've got a few things to do on here before i hit the sack. i'll check back in the morning before i head out and try to answer some questions if there are any.

Jorg, not sure if you've ever done this before, but what's it like to catch a knuckleball pitcher? What type of adjustments do you have to make and what things do you do differently? it's rather hard. you don't know which way it's going to go. some guys use a bigger glove (like varitek). next hardest pitch would have to be a split finger i'd say - you don't know if it's going to drop or not, and sometimes they have a knuckleball-like action to them when they "dance" around This is an obvious question choice for me: What kind of grub are they serving to you guys in spring training, mostly local catering or is someone actually doing the cooking? And as far as meals go, did any team you played on stand out in the type of food they served? I know these are strange questions, but it is my profession. I know what the guys in the NHL(TB Lightning) eat and it was mostly cooked by us chefs in the arena. full line of breakfast stuff - donuts, pastries, eggs, poptarts, oatmeal, fruit. you name it i'm sure it's in there. lunch time we have somewhat of what you see in subway. we have a big deli selection where everyone makes their own sandwiches. more fruit. soup. and if you feel like eating breakfast stuff, then eat it again too during the season there is a chef that prepares your food. you can get just about anything from him - this is at the major league level on the road and at home. it's done right. as far as minor leagues, they usually just cater something or the stadium will prepare a meal. in albuquerque we've gone to a few places to help us out by giving discounts on catered food because the food the stadium prepared just wasn't all that great. Jorg, thanks for doing this. Much appreciated. Do a lot of players get stressed about making it to the majors or is it a really relaxed atmosphere? If you could trade being a ballplayer for anything in the world, what would that be, if anything? Also, do you go back to LSU much? Have you been back after Katrina? Thanks again. this game can be very frustrating, but you've got to force yourself to relax. it's more mental than anything. trade this for anything...hmm. maybe a doctor. i don't mind the sight the stuff that goes on in surgery rooms this off-season i went back twice. wanted to go back a few more times than that, even catch a football game, but things just didn't work out that way. the off-season between 04 and 05 i lived in baton rouge. felt like a college kid again. my friends there say the traffic was horrendous after katrina and rita. the population tripled. the hurricanes are what actually kept me from moving back there. had they not hit and forced everyone into BR, i was going to try and live there once again. Jorg, Lots of players are superstitious about some things. Do you have any superstitions of your own? Have you ever seen any really crazy superstitions from guys? Does the team (or any team you've ever played on) have any collective superstitions, like wearing the socks high or something? i don't have any superstitions and i can't recall any that i've seen. sorry i coudln't be of more help on this question.

Jorg, Good stuff. question. Are the players following the World Baseball Classic? What are the comments about the event? somewhat but not really Jorg, two questions if you don't mind: 1) What do you think of the whole Barry Bonds situation? 2) Who was your favorite player growing up? 1. eh, whatever. i mean if the guy's guilty why not just admit it. who cares. makes you look even worse if you've denied it the whole time only to see the truth revealed later on. 2. didn't really have one. Jorg - Who is your favorite pitcher to catch? the one's that throw strikes

Jorg's Journal - March 10, 2006
Jorg, I saw in your journal from the other day that you've got a PS2 and your favorite game is SOCOM 3. Do you have MVP Baseball 2005 for the PS2? And how cool is it to play as yourself in the game? nah the only game i own is socom 3. Thanks for the updates Jorg, always a good read, do ya think other players have checked out the site? & keep it up Holly! mike jacobs mentioned something to me the other day about my journal so i know he's looked at it. and then one of the reporters as well. from what you have seen...who would you say has the upper hand for the centerfield job right now? reggie has been hitting the ball better than reed. both play outstanding defense. but it's still way too early Thanks again Jorg.....noticed that Uggla had two errors as did Gomez (the Oriole SS filling in for Tejada who's away on business heh), is he struggling at second base despite Perry Hill's guidance? Or has he been showing some improvement since camp opened? My regards to Shadez. you can only get so much out of teaching, and i'm sure he's gotten some great instruction. but, like morpheus once said in the matrix - "i can only show you the door..." (my favorite movie by the way). sometimes a ball will just take a bad bounce, and there's nothing you can really do about it.

Jorg, just wondering why you picked 21.. i know it was open after beckett got traded but has that always been your number? i didn't pick it. nor did i pick 22 last year. it was just a lower number than my original ST 76 and was available. as for the 21, well one of the coaches (harkey) wanted 22, so i gave it up and took whatever was there. don't really care what number i wear. What do the players think about the team possibly moving to San Antonio? Is it discussed much? haven't heard any discussion in the locker room about it one bit

Well, if it was Cuban food, what you were having was probably yuca (also known as cassava). Are you scheduled to make any starts this week? yuca. that's what it was. didn't really like it i don't think so. they're more concerned with the battle for a starter right now between josh and olivo

Jorg's Journal - March 10, 2006
well another win. wow. today was a late arrival day to give us a break. more of a show-and-go day for everyone instead of the usual 9:30 stretch with a little workout beforehand. it's always great when the manager gives you one of those - helps to give some of the players a little extra time to rest. stokes certainly is making a case to make the team. monstrous homerun into the clubhouse / picnic area behind left center field. then another double in the left center field gap. kinkade also hit a towering homerun to left field off halama later on in the game. other than that i can't remember really how we scored our other runs. one or two were due to a few miscues by the shortstop - he committed 2 errors in one inning with 3 ground balls being hit to him. kind of felt bad for him, but that's just how it goes sometimes. pitching looked strong today. petit started and worked 2 scoreless. it was good to see him throw well since i believe he got hit around his last outing down in lauderdale. mitre struggled with command somewhat but managed to get groundballs to get ouf of some innings. he joked that his ball just wasn't sinking enough - which if you've ever seen him pitch, his sinker drops off the table. borowski was perfect. ligtenburg the same - along with providing some Don Ramon's cuban food for post-game spread. i had to ask Jesus Delgado what something was, and i still can't remember. maybe a yut or somethin - supposedly like a potato and well liked down south. anyways, if you've got any more questions, throw them out there. oh, and holly i always see you with your camera at the game, but where's all these photos you keep taking ??

Jorg's Journal - March 9, 2006
jorgie do you play socom 3 online?!!??! what's your name?! thanks good luck -boog it's KeyMastur Hey Jorg, Thanks for answering these questions (even though some must be real tough to answer b/c of confidentiallity of the clubhouse). I have three real quick questions for you. 1. Do you feel that it is necessary for the team to go out and get a Cf or are you comfortable with the experience of the guys in the role now? I understand that you don't want to throw teamates under the bus per say, but I was just wondering. 2. Do you think the team needs to go out and get another veteran to replace Pokey? I know that Uggla has showed alot of promise but we all know that Pokey was signed for his glove but his veteran status was another perk. I know Lenny is a vet but its got to be tough for one guy to mentor an entire team of youngsters. 3. Do you prefer the clubhouse of this year or last year? Meaning, do you prefer being in a clubhouse of relativly inexperienced guys or Veterans? Again not asking you to throw the team under the bus but there have to be advantages and disadvantages of both, Right? Thanks in advance and and I look forward to seeing your answers. 1. sorry can't really answer this question 2. i think every team needs it's share of veterans. lenny, moehler, borowski, just to name a few. there's plenty of veterans on the team. right now the clubhouse is a great mix i think. 3. i'm not one to think lack of major league experience has a whole lot to do with things. to me it's the same game. it's the same guys that were once in the minor leagues before. they have just shown that they can play at the higher level on a more consistent basis. like i said earlier, it's a great mix of guys. young, old, quiet, loud. Hey Jorg, First off thank you so much for doing this. It is very kewl of you to take time out of your schedule for it. SOCOM 3 rocks I am terrible at it sadly myself. I stick more to Madden lately. There is a recent trend in baseball of catchers often turning into coaches and managers down the line after their careers. I know it is a long time away but could you ever see yourself turning into a coach once your time in the show has passed? (hopefully not for a decade or so down the road all i play is socom 3. my buddy with the mets got me hooked this past off-season. it's the only game i own possibly. if baseball doesn't work out i have my eyes on a few things, but nothing set it stone. i would like to finish up my degree while i'm playing. looking into taking some classes at phoenix online.
