We'll see. The NL is a fastball league and Soriano crushes fastballs. The only thing Brad Wilkerson does better than Soriano is that he walks alot. One other thing that Wilkerson does way better than Soriano....WHIFF.....615 times the last four years....incredible. For a player like Adam Dunn numbers like that would be acceptable, but not for a player like Wilkerson.

Soriano is a much better baseball player than Brad Wilkerson.

I don't see anyway the Marlins finish ahead of the Nationals. The Nationals have four or five relievers that would be our closer, and that's not even including the two decent lefties they have in the pen. I like Willis better than any starter they have, but I like their rotation as a whole better than ours for this year. Position player wise I would say that Cabrera is a huge edge for us, but other than that I think that the Nationals are equal to or better than the Marlins at every position on the field.

I'm as big a Marlins fan as you are buddy. I have a right to express my opinions on this site, and I'm willing to bet I've spent alot more money on the Marlins than you have. I've been a season ticket holder in the past when they deserved the price on the face on the ticket. They don't deserve it anymore. We'll see what kind of prospects they got back in April through September......but that's all they are until they prove it on the field.

6-12 with a 4.55 ERA in the one of the best pitching parks in the majors......and pitching in the NL? Not worth 1.5 million.

Aguila is awful. What makes you think he could beat Conine out when he has never been ahead of him in the pecking order before. Aguila hopefully is not part of the long-term future of the Marlins.

I suspect Conine's reason for leaving was his fear that he would NOT have gotten the playing time here he thought he was entitled to and stood to lose his starting position to a rookie with Girardi aiming for a youth movement. Rather than be humiliated by riding the bench while kids played, Conine opted for Baltimore where he'll probably ride the bench too, but at least he'll be playing behind an established major leaguer. That is absurd. No way Chris Aguila could beat out Conine.

4th or 5th? The Marlins will have the first pick in the draft next year because the only thing that separates this team from the 2003 Tigers is Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. This will be a horrible team. Even the year the Marlins won the World Series no one even went to the games until mid-September. I think they should have signed more players to minor league contracts that actually have major league talent......but they didn't. R Ferry......you are naive to think the Marlins are gonna be a champ in a couple of years.

Conine would've been a great mentor to the kids because he's been a pretty good player for a long time, and he's still pretty good. What can Brian Moehler teach the kids........how to pitch bad?

What does that mean? Conine would have gotten more playing time with the Marlins than he will with Baltimore.

I would believe Conine if he went to another contending team. The Marlins gave him a low-ball offer hoping that he would stay because he lives here and has a restaurant here.....well they were wrong. I don't blame Conine though.....I wouldn't have stayed either.

Conine didn't want to stay, he had no interest in staying because he said he wants the chance to compete at the end of his career. That's a load of crap........he signed with the ORIOLES....a team that has about as good of a chance to win the AL East as the Marlins do of winning the NL East.
