Quick Gathright update
The Devil Rays aren't trading Gomes.

Quick Gathright update
Well playing Reed or Abercrombie (neither of whom is ready) or Aguila (who scouts say is no better than a fifth OF) in center is a recipe for disaster.

Quick Gathright update
Just sign Terrance Long or Jeff Davanon to play CF if you don't want to give up Olsen and move on. Either one of those guys would be an upgrade on what we have in center.

Quick Gathright update
No way the Marlins sign Piazza. I would think it would be a very good move, but the Marlins are just too cheap to do it. By the way.......Piazza would start if he were here......still way better of a player than Miguel Olivo.

Veteran Left Fielder
It was a one-year, 1 million dollar offer.......and it was definately a low-ball offer. Heck, they gave Moehler a million and a half.......and Conine would be much more valuable to this team than him. No way on Sosa! Sosa with no roids is simply not a very good player anymore.

Offseason report card for 06 from the main site
C Olivo LoDuca 1B Jacobs Delgado 2B Reese/Uggla Castillo SS Ramirez Gonzalez 3B Cabrera Lowell LF Willingham Cabrera CF Reed/Aguila Pierre RF Hermida Encarnacion No chance the Marlins line-up will be as good as last years. .500, are you nuts? Every team in the division is way better than the Marlins.....that's 76 games that the Marlins will be lucky to win 1/3 of.

Seriously, with the line-up the Marlins put together......which will be very weak......and possibly one of the worst bullpens I've ever seen....I really think the Marlins will be hard-pressed to win 60 games. Anyone that pitches to Cabrera is a fool, I think he'll be pitched to like Barry Bonds is.

Admin Beinfest to Nationals?
It's been reported in Sports Weekly that when the Nationals finally get sold that Beinfest could leave the Marlins and take over the Nationals. That would be quite a blast to the Marlins re-building plan I would think. I'm already nervous with the fact that the Marlins will be very young and their manager has never managed a major or minor league game anywhere in his life. It's possible that Girardi will be over his head just as much as the players are.

Our bullpen
I think the Marlins should invite a ton of relievers on minor-league contracts. Nothing hurts young starting pitchers confidence more than pitching a good game and watching the bullpen blow it.

Russell Branyan?
Willie Harris, Russell Branyan.......yuck. How about giving Hidalgo an incentive-laden deal or Terrance Long the starting job?
