For the record, Mathis has a 0.4 WAR this year. He was acquired this year. Other than that you're correct. Oh, and Brad Hand, who we lost on waivers, has a 1.4 WAR this year.

Article: What Should the Marlins Do About Hechavarria?
Its just an opinion. I obviously can't prove that he will be. But his batted ball stats say he definitely could be. I mean he hit .280 last year while striking out a lot more and making weaker contact.

I mean he's hitting line drives at the same rate as Correa and as hard as Tulo (who is also having a terrible BABIP year). while he won't ever have their power, it's reasonable to assume this is a fluke season for him and he's more the type of guy we saw last year

I honestly think with improved patience he's at least a .270 bat

He definitely isn't a .230 or even a .240 hitter.

If you're gonna bring a 5th OF in, why your best arm? Ichiro in would have made a ton more sense

Article: What Should the Marlins Do About Hechavarria?
I dunno. The metrics are usually very reliable or else FG would not use them. I'm not saying hech is gonna be a .300 hitter yearly. But he could very well be the .280 hitter he was last year. And with his defense thats enough

Article: What Should the Marlins Do About Hechavarria?
His LD% and hard hit % are much higher than 2013. He's also walking much more and swinging at balls a lot less

Article: What Should the Marlins Do About Hechavarria?
But he is. And because he is, he shouldn't be hitting .230 when he hit .280 last year. I highly doubt Hech will ever be a .300 bat. But he doesn't have to be

Article: What Should the Marlins Do About Hechavarria?
Again. He's having his best season batted ball wise this year by far

Article: What Should the Marlins Do About Hechavarria?
He's not a power hitter and never will be which I also point out. But he's a singles 2Bs hitting SS whose made his best contact this yr. He shouldn't be given up on just yet.

I dunno. You don't post that LD% and hard hit rate while hitting .237. Even if his second half has sucked, he shouldn't be hitting that low.
