DMat: Bour could return next weem
Not sure if serious. You can't do that based on the tiny sample size Scruggs has. Scruggs is better vs LHP, he has arguably a better glove, he was touted as a top power prospect for some time before the Cards rushed him. He's absolutely destroyed the baseball all year, he walks more than Bour did in AAA and he just looks like a better all around player. Bours injury also scares me. Rough injury for a big guy. I fear ongoing problems there. The fact he isnt even arbi eligible till 2019 makes him attractive during the meetings and will give us bak decent value. I say he goes now

DMat: Bour could return next weem
Heard this song and dance before. With X performing, leave him shut down. Though if he could come back and hit a little we could shop him this offseason. Yes I know he's under control til 2018 but he's 28, doesn't hit lefties and is now coming off major injury. If things keep going the same way for X the rest of the year, this may be the time to deal JB.

Ogando, Ellington, Telis, Hood up, Lazo DFA
I thought that same thing when Bour went down and Scruggs was still a question mark. The FO only agreed for two games. And I agree with you: Telis will be a more patient MLB hitter than Realmuto. They are indeed similar but JT is by far the better defender, which matters as much if not more when evaluating players at that spot. I will say Telis knows how to call pitchers though. He has done a great job in that capacity this year. A team without many standout prospects has the 5th best ERA (4.1) in the hitter friendly PCL

Ogando, Ellington, Telis, Hood up, Lazo DFA
All true with the exception of Telis being good on defense if that's what you were getting at. He isnt. Even this year where he is performing very well offensively he is 17 for 67 when throwing runners out. He's a future 1B. Doesn't have much power for a future corner infielder. But his ability to hit from both sides trumps that and makes him extremely easy to get into games. When he finally gets his full shot, he will surprise a lot of people that don't know who he is offensively.

Ogando, Ellington, Telis, Hood up, Lazo DFA
Hood mashes lefties, subpar vs righties. 9th in PCL in RBI, 10th in 2Bs. Leads Zs in SLG. Defense is average at best. Has played all three spots but future is at LF. Next to no future in RF unless arm vastly improves. Telis is switch hitting catcher with eligibility at 1B. Good from both sides. Leads Zs in BA. Should've been given an actual chance when called up earlier this year while we were calling up Perez and Kelly and starting CJ every day. Even with Scruggs bursting onto scene, he should still be here over Mathis who somehow still has a job. Long term future is probably as 1B, arm too weak behind plate.

Bore down when needed. Effective first start, better than expected. Still looks far from ready. Next start w/ reports out if there is one should be fun
