Speaking of IQ
Ya, I'm much more attuned to words than math.? I probably missed most of the questions about the shapes.? Did anyone get the question about the house shaped like a doughnut with 5 doors?? My fav question. 603846 mmmm...doughnuts 603848 It's true. Draw a doughnut. Then make 3 little marks on the inside circle and then 2 little marks on the outside circle. Try to draw a walking line through the doors starting from the courtyard and you'll see that it is possible to walk through all the doors without using one of them twice

Curt Schilling tells Red Sox fans to vote for Bush
thats were the contradiction lies, I dont really care abouit the top 1% they pay most of the taxes in this country anyway. The people I think high taxes for social programs hurts is the middle class and upper middle class, and then in turn the lowest classes. The middle classes by being taxed too heavily and b/c as they make more money the taxation impedes their progress, and the low classes b/c it creates a culture of dependancy. By the way during the clinton years wasnt there a welfare reform program that passed congress? How come i havent seen it in action, at least in miami 603797 I don't know dude... Local politics down here are weird, if you know what I mean. There is so much corruption here in Miami, that if I was President I would fire everybody and put in new people... Of course just figuratively speaking. 603798 but are those reforms active in other parts of the country? 603799 I don't know. Everything from Clinton's scandal to today is a blur in my mind. I can't think of anything good happening since then.

yes but he has no political training to let him know what certain pieces of legislation may have contributed to those conditions, or if it really was bush's fault that certain things happen. The media likes to blame the president for things that anyone who knows anything about politics knows that isnt the presidents job. 603713 Let's not talk about the media shall we. First of all the media is utterly useless for anything other than to know who killed Lacy Peterson or whose pants was Kobe in. Oh, and as for the media "blaming the President", that is an absolute lie. They pretty much have given him a pass on all his lies and misstatements so just be thankfull that liberals don't really have control in the editorial room. 603727 thats your own bias clouding your judgement. Media always blames all presidents for the way the country is going. Im not tlaking about liberal or conservative, just in general. The media doesnt say the economy is on a downswing, its time for the congressional committees in charge of economic issues to get together and draft legislation in order to improve conditions. They just say the economy has been on a downward spiral since Nixon /Carter/reagan etc. took office. And the media has ripped into Bush big time. 603788 My bias? What about yours? You and your friends are the ones who constantly claim there is a "liberal media"... If there was, I want to know whey they are such puzzies. 603792 Before i go on, im glad your posting again, i enjoy my arguments with you more than wiht anyone else on the board. But im not going to get into the media argument with you again. 603793 Thanks for the "sort of" compliment. No, let's not get into it again.

Hollywood liberals for the most part are people that have not for the most part learned the value of hard work. Its not that they are grateful for success, because success comes through your own hard work, preseverance, and a little luck. I've been working since i was 14, not in a real job b/c thats illegal but just helping my dad with his work as an electrician. I've been managed my own money for years and thats why im a?? conservative. I believe we need to help the less fortunate but why should government interfere in my freedom and rip away what i worked so hard to earn. Actors and singers dont realize what its like to go out and work in the sun all day for 20 years, to finally save up enough money to start your own business and by the time your 45 you have a comfortable living. Thats the problem. This poor small business owner has fought too hard to be successful for the govt to now come and strip it all away. Sure we should not turn a blind eye to the poor, but the dems taxation and such doesnt hurt only the top 1% it hurts anyone who worked there asses off to finally make 210,000 dollars a year 603722 Once again you are absolutely wrong. Unless you were born into famous parents, most Hollywood superstars were regular people like you and me Legacy. Ask Silvester Stalone, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, etc. They were dirt ppor and had to work their butts off to get where they are... 603769 Ask Brian... (Where is he anyway?) he is an actor and he can tell you that in order to succeed you have to give up on a lot of things. Most actors start working menial jobs in order to have time for auditions. Many of them can be seen working as waiters in New York city. Just because these Hollywood superstars are rich now doesn't mean they forgot about their humble backgrounds legacy... It appears that you think they all were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. 603776 you dont have to be born rich to not appreciate the value of hard work and to be elitist. The fact is many times when someone becomes so filthy stinking rich they forget what its like to fight and struggle with money. They forget that every hard earned dollar counts. Thats why many sports players, actors, and singers have forgotten or have never known the true value of hard work. No matter how hard it is to make a movie, a construction worker can work equally hard or harder and doesnt make 10 million dollars a second doing his job 603791 That is exactly what I think. A lot of people forget who they were and their humble backgrounds and become greedy, tax hugs who don't think the poor person in the corner deserves a chance. I wouldn't be so quick to judge the "Hollywood Elite". Most of them are people who genuinely care for others, despite of their eccentricities.

Again...how is this any different than Limbaugh lying to dumb white people on the radio? Unless you are biased against hip-hop there really isn't much of a difference. A different medium and different target audience, but essentially the same thing. 603755 I think I am going to disagree with you Shammy. Yes, some people use their influence on others. But isn't that what it is all about? In my opinion, as much as I hate Limbaugh, I think he really believes what he says. If he didn't he wouldn't be so successful. The passion he puts into his statements is difficult to fake. I really think he believes every word he spews. As for Eminem and other artists. I am glad that they are finally helping this lame generation get interested in the world around them. Besides "bitches" and "bling bling" there a whole other things in this world. Whether you agree with the message or you think they want to "dupe" people into believing something, one has to admit that music is and has always been a "gauge" for the state of mind of our society. I think I should do a research paper on the influence of politics in music.

Miami-Dade county poll looks real good for Kerry
Apparently, this is where those dems are: the road to the White House no longer runs exclusively through Little Havana, it now winds its way through the streets of Wynwood and Allapattah and Homestead. :thumbup 603738 Damm it! Homestead is too far for me.... Where the hell is Allapattah???

Bad News for Bush Continue
Bad News Dogs Bush As Election Nears 2 hours, 17 minutes ago By SCOTT LINDLAW, Associated Press Writer LINK YARDLEY, Pa. - The presidency comes with powerful tools that can help incumbents keep their jobs: a mighty public-relations machine, a bully pulpit, a famous airplane. Yet President Bush (news - web sites) has been powerless to halt a recent tide of bad news, from surging violence and missing weapons in Iraq (news - web sites), to missteps by his own campaign, to a potentially damaging new probe by his own FBI (news - web sites). The inconvenient news has been magnified in the superheated atmosphere of the final week of Bush's tight race with Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites). In a Friday speech, Kerry hoped to stoke the latest revelation: news that the FBI has begun investigating whether the Pentagon (news - web sites) improperly awarded no-bid military contracts to Halliburton Co., formerly headed by Vice President d*** Cheney (news - web sites). His running mate, John Edwards (news - web sites), said, "The special treatment of Halliburton is wrong." For four straight days, Bush had been dogged by a report that nearly 400 tons of explosives disappeared from Iraq's Al-Qaqaa military installation. Bush aides winced when former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a frequent Bush campaign partner and surrogate, said the troops in Iraq, not Bush, bore the responsibility for searching for the explosives. "No matter how you try to blame it on the president, the actual responsibility for it really would be for the troops that were there. Did they search carefully enough ? didn't they search carefully enough?" Giuliani said on NBC's "Today" program. There was more: The U.N. nuclear agency said U.S. officials were warned about the vulnerability of explosives stored at the installation after another facility was looted. Minneapolis ABC affiliate KSTP-TV, which had a crew embedded with the 101st Airborne Division during the war, released videotape that it said showed soldiers examining explosives at the massive Al-Qaqaa facility nine days after the fall of Baghdad. The video could possibly undermine Bush's suggestion the explosives were looted before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. The presidency is a mixed blessing for incumbents seeking a second term, said Ken Khachigian, who worked in the Nixon and Reagan White Houses. "You have to take the good with the bad," Khachigian said. "The good is, you're the president of the United States, flying on Air Force One and military helicopters. It's pretty impressive, and that's been helping the president." At the same time, "there's a natural tendency in the media to try to expose the incumbent," he said. But some of the headlines hurting Bush are not directly related to the campaign. Thursday, there was new horror from Iraq: Insurgents slaughtered 11 Iraqi soldiers, beheading one, then shooting the others execution-style. Two more U.S. soldiers were killed ? one in a car bombing in Baghdad, and the other in an ambush near Balad, 40 miles north of the capital. More than 1,100 U.S. service members have died since Bush launched the Iraq war in March 2003. A new survey of deaths in Iraqi households estimates that as many as 100,000 more people may have died throughout the country in the 18 months since the U.S.-led invasion than would be expected based on the death rate before the war. Voters were reminded in the week before the election that the cost in dollars is soaring too. Bush plans to send Congress a request of up to $75 billion early next year for additional money to finance wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (news - web sites) and operations against terrorism, congressional aides said earlier this week. That's on top of $215 billion that lawmakers have provided since 2001 to wage war in Iraq and Afghanistan and begin rebuilding those countries. Bush's camp prides itself on its professionalism, but his re-election campaign acknowledged Thursday that it had doctored a photograph used in a television commercial to remove the president and the podium where he was standing. The campaign said the ad will be re-edited and reshipped to TV stations. A group of soldiers in the crowd was electronically copied to fill in the space where the president and the podium had been, aides say. In his addresses Thursday, Bush skated past the bad news, sticking to his prepared remarks and avoiding reporters. On Iraq, he emphasized that elections are scheduled for January. "Think how far that society has come from the days of torture chambers and mass graves," Bush said in Saginaw, Mich. "Freedom is on the march!" Khachigian said the Bush White House should counterattack vigorously. "I'm not going to second-guess what they're doing, but I'd encourage the president to be very aggressive, and it would be to his political advantage to lay the strap to Kerry," Khachigian said. Specifically, Bush should step up his denunciations of Kerry for whipping up the missing-explosives affair, Khachigian said.

BREAKING NEWS: Iraq missing Explosives were there!
IRAQ MISSING EXPLOSIVES TIMELINE: 1991 The International Atomic Energy Agency places a seal over storage bunkers holding conventional explosives known as HMX and RDX and PETN at the Al-Qaqaa facility south of Baghdad as part of U.N. sanctions that ordered the dismantlement of Iraq?s nuclear program after the Gulf War. HMX is a ?dual use? substance powerful enough to ignite the fissile material in an atomic bomb and set off a nuclear chain reaction. 2003 January IAEA inspectors view the explosives at Al-Qaqaa for the last time. The inspectors take an inventory and again place storage bunkers at Al-Qaqaa under agency seal. February IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei tells the United Nations that Iraq has declared that ?HMX previously under IAEA seal had been transferred for use in the production of industrial explosives.? This apparently didn?t include the HMX that remained under seal at Al-Qaqaa. March 9-15 Nuclear agency inspectors visit Al-Qaqaa for the last time but apparently don?t examine the explosives because the seals aren?t broken. The inspectors then pull out of the country. March 20 The U.S.-led coalition invades Iraq. April 3 The Army?s 3rd Infantry Division reaches Al-Qaqaa, fights with Iraqi forces, occupies the site and leaves after two days for Baghdad without searching for high explosives. April 9 The 3rd Infantry Division captures Baghdad. April 10 Troops from the 101st Airborne Division?s 2nd Brigade spend 24 hours at the site, search for chemical weapons ? but not high explosives ? and then head to Baghdad. An NBC reporter embedded with the unit said there?s no talk among the 101st of securing the area after they leave. May 3 The nuclear agency purportedly notifies the U.S. Mission in Vienna of its concerns about the Al-Qaqaa facility. May 8 An American site survey team arrives to inspect the Latifiyah Phosgene Facility ? part of Al-Qaqaa ? and finds the plant heavily looted. May 11 An American site survey team arrives to inspect Latifiyah Missile and Rocket production facility, also part of Al-Qaqaa. The team assesses the facility as non-operational but with possible dual use. May 27 U.S. troops search specifically for high explosives. The troops find the seals have been broken. It?s not clear whether they did a further accounting of the materials themselves. 2004 Oct. 10 Iraq?s Ministry of Science and Technology tells the nuclear agency that 377 tons of explosives has disappeared from the Al-Qaqaa facility. The Iraqis say the materials were stolen after the April 9, 2003, fall of Baghdad because of a lack of security. Oct. 15 The IAEA informs the U.S. mission in Vienna about the disappearance. National security adviser Condoleezza Rice is informed days later, and she informs President Bush, according to White House press secretary Scott McClellan. Oct. 23-24 The Pentagon orders the U.S. military command in Baghdad to investigate the IAEA report. Oct. 25 ElBaradei reports the explosives? disappearance to the U.N. Security Council after The New York Times reports the cache is missing.

Brokaw Clarifies NBC report
"Last night on this broadcast we reported that the 101st Airborne never found the nearly 380 tons of HMX and RDX explosives. We did not conclude the explosives were missing or had vanished, nor did we say they missed the explosives. We simply reported that the 101st did not find them." "For its part, the Bush campaign immediately pointed to our report as conclusive proof that the weapons had been removed before the Americans arrived. That is possible, but that is not what we reported." For the second day Mr. Bush did not speak about the issue, twice ignoring questions from reporters." http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/27/politics...ogin&oref=login So why cant Bush just clarify this? He can settle the whole matter right? Ah...looks like Sludge drew false conclusions. Spin spin spin. 602145 Mollusk, Bush has been quoted as saying that "a leader should never admit to his mistakes". So, don't expect to hear a clarification any time soon.

Hmm, comparing Ronald Reagan to Eminem. One was President, the other is a high school dropout. Good Analogy 603418 Hmm... What was Ronnie before he was President cutie pie? Yes, an actor, a celebrity. Same as Arnie who was "the Terminator" (still is) and other "celebrities" who happen to be conservative. Maybe the High School drop out has a lot more to tell than those guys... Don't you think he would know what is like to live in poverty, have bad education and bad schools????
