A lot of times, I'll use my check card at restaurants and my online statements show a higher amount for a day or two and then it changes into what I really spent. I found this weird but it happened like 4 or 5 times in a 2 month span. I railed this dude at pizza hut and he assured me I wasn't charged that much even though my online statement said otherwise, 2 days later it was fixed. I know how it works now. Some restaurants will add 20% to the amount you spent to assure you have enough money for it. This is the first time that has happen to me.

The former All-Star had the remaining two years and $35 million of his contract voided by the Celtics on Feb. 18 after he was suspended twice for violating his alcohol-treatment program. He has filed a grievance to get the contract reinstated, and an arbitrator will hear the case next month. Baker will earn the prorated portion of the veteran's minimum salary of $1 million, or about $11,000 a game. Baker will join the Knicks tonight in Philadelphia for their game against the 76ers, the source told Bloomberg. In Baker's grievance against the NBA, which was argued Monday, arbitrator Roger Kaplan invalidated a league memo barring all 29 teams from signing Baker until his other grievance -- against the Boston Celtics -- is settled. Baker's agent, Aaron Goodwin, spent the latter part of Thursday speaking with the Knicks and Heat when Baker decided he did not want to play for the Raptors -- the third team that was pursuing him until the NBA sent out its March 1 memo barring any team from signing Baker. Kaplan set an initial hearing date of April 12 for Baker's case against the Celtics, who terminated the remaining 2? years of Baker's contract -- worth $35 million -- after he missed 10 games while on suspension for violating terms of his alcohol treatment program. The NBA argued if Baker were to win his case against Boston, he'd have to return to the Celtics because his contract would be reinstated. The players' union argued Baker should have a right to seek employment elsewhere while his case against the Celtics is pending. Kaplan ruled the NBA's memo violated articles 11 and 14 of the collective bargaining agreement, which deal with free agency and collusion, union spokesman Dan Wasserman said. "Clearly the NBA and Boston have to be concerned about this preliminary ruling," union director Billy Hunter said. "We're confident that when the matter is heard we'll get a favorable ruling in the underlying case." The union advised Baker that if he signs with the Knicks or Heat, it should only be for the remainder of this season. Additional hearings in Baker's case against the Celtics were set for April 13, 26 and 27. "We obviously disagree with the arbitrator's decision, but have elected not to appeal and to allow Mr. Baker to sign a contract with another team," Rick Buchanan, NBA senior vice president and general counsel, said in a statement. Baker, a member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic team, was averaging 11.0 points and 5.7 rebounds for Boston before being suspended. ESPN.com news services TAMPA, Fla. -- Five-time Pro Bowl safety John Lynch won't be back with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season. Although the Bucs had not yet officially released the 32-year-old, Lynch said Thursday he was given permission to talk to other teams after general manager Bruce Allen turned down his request to restructure a contract that would have paid him $4.1 million in 2004 and $5 million in 2005. Lynch will be released later Thursday, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. Lynch said the Bucs never made him an offer and that Allen made it clear "it wasn't an option to be back in Tampa." "I take great pride in the fact that in my career in the NFL I have never and will never play for a contract, rather any success I've had is the result of my play, my passion for the game I love, and the game I respect so much," Lynch said in a news conference held at a radio station in his hometown of San Diego and broadcast live in Tampa. "Those values never changed in this process. This decision was not a result of my unwillingness to restructure my contract. ... As a result, I will be playing football next year for a different team." Lynch requested an opportunity to talk to other teams before Tampa Bay officially severed ties with him. He likely will be released, although Allen said the Bucs also would explore the prospect of a trade once Lynch settled on his destination. "Everyone respects who he is and what he's brought to the game of football. But at this time we're going to move forward," Allen said. "We decided the best way to move forward is allow him to talk to other teams and find a home that would be best for him and his family." Allen declined to discuss specifics about talks with Lynch or whether the Bucs decided they didn't want the veteran safety back at any price. "I don't discuss contract negotiations," Allen said, adding that it was in the team's best interest to turn to younger players, like fourth-year pro Jermaine Phillips, at Lynch's position. "You don't replace John Lynch. I understand what this means," the general manager said. "But we will overcome this and we will become a better team." Tampa Bay released five players and restructured the contracts of linebacker Derrick Brooks, cornerback Brian Kelly and offensive lineman Kerry Jenkins to create room under the NFL's $80.6 million salary cap. The team has signed eight players in the past week, including former Oakland running back Charlie Garner, while ignoring the highest-profile Tampa Bay free agent on the open market, defensive tackle Warren Sapp. Sapp's agent said Tuesday that the seven-time Pro Bowl selection had not yet received an offer from the Bucs and would begin talking to other teams. Lynch has played his entire 11-year career in Tampa Bay and along with Sapp and Brooks helped transform the Bucs from the laughingstock of the league into Super Bowl champions. He was bothered part of last season by a shoulder injury that kept him out of two games and required offseason surgery. During the news conference, Lynch thanked former Bucs and current Colts coach Tony Dungy for giving him a chance to become a star, and he retains a close relationship with Jets coach and former Bucs assistant Herman Edwards. Allen was noncommittal about his plans for the money Lynch's departure will clear under the salary cap. "It frees up money to sign any number of players," Allen said. "We'll see what happens."
