Prospectives to make the team

Featured Replies

Here are the basic candidates (for offense):

Lenny Harris

Brian Banks

Abe Nunez

Damion Easely

Mike Mordecai

Last I checked, seems like 4 will make the team. Here are the stats:

Harris .556 (5/9)

Nunez .336 (4/11) 2HR 5R 6RBI

Banks .200 (2/10)

Easely .278 (5/18) 1HR 4R 4RBI

Mordecai .133 (2/13) 1R 2RBI

I think Harris, Mordy, and Banks are going to make the team because McKeon knows what to expect from them and is comfortable. So, Nunez and Easely are fighting for one spot, and with the numbers Nunez is putting up, he is making a statment. Plus, if Nunez is sent down, he would face waivers and I think the FO is really high on this guy's talent. That may mean Easely goes down to AAA. Of course, Easely could break with the team if Lowell isnt healthy.

11 pitchers

8 starting in the field

That leaves 6 guys on the bench.

# 1 LH Pinch Hitter: Lenny Harris

# 1 RH Pinch Hitter: Wil Cordero

CA Redmond

2B/SS/3B Mordy

2B/3B/OF Easley - has been playing great offense AND defense.

OF Nunez - out of options...he will be on the team.

Banks IMO will not make the team. McKeon does know what to expect from him and that is a major reason why he will be let go. Last year our nech was brutal. This season Banks not get many at bats, so he serves no major role.

I assumed Cordero would be on the team because of his contract and his stats. He hits lefties really, really well - which is why we got him.

But one cant disagree with Banks being sent down. He doesnt seem to be getting a lot of looks either. It will be interesting to see who gets cut...
