CapeFish
North Dade for 3 reasons: 1) Land is cheaper 2) More land to develop potential ballpark village 3) Central location for regional fan base.
marlin2266
North Dade. There are no downtown options on the water. Anyway, the PAC Bell McCovey Cove thing is way over-rated. The only workable downtown site is Arena West, and that's a no-go for some unknown reason. I live in Cutler Ridge; even so, North Dade is the better site of the two. CapeFish
Philly's new ballpark is still in South Philly, but it will still be nice and in the middle of a parking lot. No reason why we can't make a ballpark near PPS and make it nice.
FreshFish
North Dade, get the hell out of City of Miami negotiazions that aren't being done in good faith.
CapeFish
does anybody have the GIS info and pics of the site in North Dade? I can't find it.
El Guapo
i voted for downtown but i know its never going to happen.North dade does have alot more land so its probably our best shot...i just hope we get a final word on it soon so it wont be a distraction for the players... The Mike Mordecai Experien
How can all of you people want it in north dade? Downtown is better because... There is no traffic going southbound I95. There is better fan base in Miami. Easier to get to.
PBMarlin
North Dade. It is more centralized, and will have the greatest overall draw. The access is the best, and there is adequate land to handle parking.

For the people in Broward there is no southbound traffic going to downtown Miami. Masstransit also makes downtown easier to get to.
CapeFish
By 2007, MetroRail will have a connection to PPS. There is traffic wherever you put it and Downtown's roads are marginal when compared to North Dade.

A move to downtown will lose much of the fan base to the north....at least during the week. Mass transit from Palm Beach and Broward is not practical as one would have to take Tri-Rail and transfer to Metro-Rail, altogether a 2 hour commute from Palm Beach. During the week, the last train leaves the Metrorail transfer station at 7:39pm......so not an option. On Saturday the last train leaves at 9:39pm and Sunday again at 7:39pm. So again, if the game goes to 3 hours, good chance fans will miss the last train. I would never take that chance. So bottom line, forget about the notion that mass transit works for the downtown location.
Shaq-Man
i guess you could say i have the special distinction of intimately knowing what the commute is like from both the north and the south. i'm from palm beach county (but have been going to school in dade for the last few years), and i can tell you the weekday evening drive to PPS from a southern part of palm beach county--say, boca raton--actually takes slightly less time than the drive from south miami, and much less time than the drive from, say, cutler ridge. the weekday evening commute to PPS from anywhere in broward county is significantly shorter than the commute from most of dade county. people from palm beach county get there quicker than people from heavily populated dade... sounds crazy, huh? i'm actually from palm beach county and i think it'd be much smarter to move the stadium a bit more to the south. the folks in the organization aren't stupid; the notion of putting a stadium in miami has a ton of merit. when you look at a map, PPS looks like a great centralized location, doesn't it? great on sunday afternoons, yes...
