April 19, 200422 yr Albuquerque - AAA lost in extras 4-3 *3 singles in 5AB for Wilson Valdez....plus a SB (avg .348) *2 singles and a walk for Hooper in 4AB (.278) Carolina - AA won 5-4 *After a sluggish start Marlins top power prospect, Jason Stokes, is getting it going...He led the hitting attack (3-3...HR(2) double(2) and a walk) to bring his batting average above the .300 mark (.313) *CF Eric Reed set the table for Stokes by reaching base twice with a two singles...Reed also stole his 5th base and was caught stealing for the first time. A hot start puts him at .390avg 395OBP 561SLG. *RF Chip Ambres continued his early struggles by going 0-4 and striking out 3 times to give him a 10K/1BB ratio. *24 year old SP, Peter Bauer kept his ERA at 0 by pitching 5 scoreless. (4H, 0ER, 1BB, 3K) We picked him up from Toronto in the off-season....he has good stuff and a large body (6"7' 250) Jupiter - Hi A Off-day Greensboro - Low A *19 yr old southpaw, Jon Nickerson, had a wild outing walking 4 in 3.1 innings of work. He allowed 3H, struck out 2, and allowed a HR. *Marlins top prospect, CF Jai Miller, had 2 hits.
April 19, 200422 yr I'll be able to get some looks at Hermida and company when the Hammerheads head up to Brevard County this summer. Sure would be nice if the marlins A team still played up here I'd be able to keep you guys updated on how they are doing.
