I dont think it was on purpose. They just got away from him. He may have been trying to establish the inside half and just missed - badly. The Rockie announcers made a big deal of it, and I wonder if that is why you are asking. DId you see this game on MLB TV?

There wasn't any reason to throw at Helton, we were up big and there is no animosity between these teams. They got away, but Choi was probably plunked just to show that the Rockies stick up for their guy...I respect that. If Choi were hurt however...

Youve got to try to pitch Helton high and tight so he cant extend, and I think two of those just happened to get away from Pavano. Helton handled it very professionally because its part of the game and didnt try to Manny Ramirez it up.

Choi was not in retaliation. That was well after the Helton 'incident' - almost an inning after. So if it was retaliation, it was certaily a dish served freezing.

I have to give a hand to Helton for being such a pro about it, both pitches almost took his head off. All in all I think that both pitches just got away from Pavano as he was trying to establish the inside of the plate.

Yea, I saw it on MLB.tv but c'mon, two wild pitches head high in a row? I understand wild pitches occur but twice in a row in the same spot looked bad. It just looked to me like he was head hunting.
