He's right. Nobody else in baseball today could pull off some of the wild plays Alex manages to.

you got that right! It would be ludicrous to expect Alex to bat .300, but if he gives me .250, I'll be more than happy!!! His defense is nassstttyyy.

I read the other day that it was b/c our scouts got pretty close to Cabs's family, interesting post though... :thumbup

yeah i heard that from the announcers the other night on the espn game. they said the yankees also offered him more money. and that cabrera and alex are both from venezuela and were friends so that was one of the reasons he took less money to sign with florida.

Cabs also looked at the Marlins track record of progressing Latin players to the Majors at fairly quick pace. Example include Edgar, Luis, Alex, Livan and Felix Heredia to name a few. Gonzo getting it done with the glove works for me. The only other player that's comparable with the glove is Renteria.

But i heard last year, that the Yankees scouts gave Miguel a bad review, and when the "big guys" saw how he played for Florida they fired those scouts...
