April 29, 200422 yr competitive eating: sport or not? sport: endurance, requires strength, competitive not: its just stuffing your face discuss tomorrow: cheerleading
April 29, 200422 yr ill tell ya right now what my stance on sports is. I dont think track and swimming are sports. I think they athletic events.
April 29, 200422 yr anyone who can eat 50 hotdogs in an hour and weighs 150 lbs is quite an athelete in my book! :lol
April 29, 200422 yr Eating contests are definetly sports. That guy who ate 50 hotdogs in an hour is my hero.
April 29, 200422 yr I was thinking of this today at work mainly because I thought my reply in the other thread was very rude. A sport is sport when its purpose is to be compete against another. Thus eating, hunting or spelling are not sports but board games and cheerleading (school pride is at risk) are.
April 29, 200422 yr I competed in my share of eating contests and won a lot of them(mainly pie eating contests, mmm Pie). Not a sport though, I just did it because it was something cool to do.
April 29, 200422 yr Are you kidding me? This is nowhere near a sport. You sit your ass down and stuff your face. I do that everyday but am I an athlete? Nope.
April 30, 200422 yr Author not a sport, cmon eating a lot may require some athleticism, but so does hunting/fishing, and we said yesterday that neither is a sport
April 30, 200422 yr Author If you don't break some sort of sweat, it isn't a sport. :thumbdown if you ate 50 hot dogs in 12 minutes, youd sweat
