Some food for thought

16 of our last 19 games have been on the Road. We are 10 - 9 during that strech 9 - 7 if you throw out that Braves series at home. That means we went 2 games over .500 in our first 16 road games which includes what is usually regarded as our toughest roadtrip of the season on the West Coast. We are still 3 games in 1st place in the NL East. Just think about that. We are in damn good shape. If I would have told you this before the season started would all of you be thrilled?

True, the bullpen didn't do well, but the lack of quality starting pitching caused them to get overworked...the whole pitching staff is 'to blame'.

I'm not so sure. We may struggle a bit for some time.

Best thing it can happen is for our starters to give us 7+ innings on the next 2 or 3 games.

Yea, this was probably our hardest stretch of the season. It won't get much harder than what we just went through.

The last road trip in Sept/Oct going through Atlanta and Philadelphia will be the toughest.....and most critical.....IMO.

Seriously though, they will be tougher next time we play them and ATL is never easy for us. I agree.

I don't think the picture is too rosy right now.

Who have we played?

- Bottom dwellers Expos that everyone beats

- Phillies (which started very cold and are getting better)

- Colorado (not even a .500 record)

- San Francisco (well below .500, and no pitching staff to speak off. Beat us 3 straigh time with the Marlins being ahead)

- Atlanta (the only decent team with a .500 record that beat us 5 out of 6, ouch!)

Now the real test start. We are getting two teams at home that are playing very good ball. Not taking at least 4 out the next 6 games would be a big dissapointment. If we are for real, we better perform this week.
